several xbox live disconnects for past few days

Post » Wed Dec 08, 2010 8:08 am

Hi
I wanted to see if anyone else has this problem or knows a fix for it. I have nat open and 25/25 fios internet. The last few days I would be in a game (host or not) and mid game it would disconnect from live. This happens every few games and I mainly play TIA.
Thanks in advance.

It has happened to me several times in the last few days. It seems the migrating is getting worse too. It counts down and then boots us back to the lobby when we are in the middle of a match.

Funny I am using the built in WIFI receiver on the XBOX Slim and that may just be my cause.... thx.
For some reason I never had any problems with other MP games before so I thought it was the game. :P

Please let us know how you go with the LAN cable as opposed to WiFi :)

adam,
ppl seem to have better connections (disconnect wise) with wired as opposed to wireless. for some reason, more with crysis 2 than other online mp games.
thanks.

If you have a bad connection never blame it on the game and if you don't no check your modem.

true, however my modem is fine. i will just take sebbong's advice and try wired, as wireless can be unreliable. I was just trying to answer cry-adam, as i was confused by what he was really asking or referring to.

I know my router very well. It is a Netgear WNR2000 Wireless N Router - 300Mbps. I have never had a problem with any other game (other than Homefront, which is a different story) before. I play both Xbox and PC games and this router has never done me wrong. Trust me I know everyone is quick to judge, and trust me I am too, the experience of the user and their networking knowledge. I just don't think that it is my setup.
Nat - Open
Ports - Open
I have set WEP Keys and MAC encryption on, now if this is slowing me down at all it is nothing substantial.
My ISP is Cox Cable and I pay extra for the premium service which is definitely fast enough for online gaming.

I will try the straight CAT5 cable and see how that works. Thanks for the help fellas.

My results with the cat5 connected or not were the same. The host migrated a few times then booted me to the start of the MP select area, of course not giving me credit for the match I just played. Oh well, its not a deal breaker so no worries. It doesn't happen often and I enjoy the game to much to get mad. :)

thanks bob. cya on tonight!

cry-adam,
if you read this basically being wired or wireless does not matter for some of us. as i said previously, i had no disconnects/failed migrations last night like i had the past 2 days and i am always wireless (2 to 3 bars).
thanks.
