Sewer's in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Sep 05, 2011 12:11 am

In Imperial City there were sewers. I Remember in Vivec in Morrowind there were sewers. Will there be even more sewers in Skyrim?

I can't really imagine there being complicated sewer systems in Skyrim as in Imperial City, as it would seem too "sophisticated" for the people of Skyrim (no offence lol). Also I hate the sewers and there are no real reason for them to be in the game. I don't see any toilets, sinks, drainage systems or anything in TES! There were some fountains inside Vivec and some water pipes thought, but that isn't worth an entire sewer system.

Anyway: What are your views on Sewers? Love em', hate them? Do you WANT them in Skyrim too? The only purpuse a sewer would serve in Skyrim would be a escape route. They are so damn frustrating and you only end up being stuck in them for hours.

PS: Yes I'm aware that I messed up the thread title.

Apostrophe + S implies ownership/possession. What is the "Sewer" possessing, or owning in this thread title?
:P Just had to get that in there. I'd love to use them as ways to stealthily get around places.

What's the point of sewers, if there are no toilets in the game? I have always wondered...

I like them, and hopefully you can get into cities through sewers, so that you don't have to walk through the guarded main gate. Always bugged me how if you're a criminal you can't sneak into cities <_<

The lack of sinks, toilets, and other things ect. bugged me too. Hopefully one of the "little things that drove people crazy" that Beth is saying they fixed.

well I have just assumed all the pots and buckets next to people's beds were chamber pots which they dump out their windows each morning like the french and english did during the late dark ages and early renaissance. the um er... lets call them "leavings" would hit people below and sit in the street until it rained where it was washed into the sewers and then the rivers which is why the harbor stinks so bad even still.

Long time ago people would use buckets as toilets, and then throw away their waste into the sewers on the streets

Not a big fan of the oblivion sewers, but they're probably still in.

I think it would be pretty awesome if you had to use sewers to sneak into a city if yo had a really high bounty, as there would be guards at the gate that would recognise you.

Dragonborn: "I'm off to search for the creature that terrorizes this village!"

A crowd of peasants stands in wonder of his charisma and strength...

Random Peasant: "But where are you going to start your search?"

Dragonborn: "The sewer systems of course! Perfect place to hide for this putrid scum!"

The peasants look at our hero and at each other with quizzical faces...

Random Peasant: "But sir.."

Dragonborn: "Time is wasting...Where is the nearest entrance to the sewer systems!?"

Random peasant then unsteadily points to a ram-shackle outhouse outside the tavern...

Dragonborn: "I'm off! have no fear peasants! I will bring this scum to hand!"

Lifting up the wooden lid, our intrepid hero then dives into the [censored]ter...Soon realizing his mistake...

Dragonborn: "Well...My face is red...A little help here!?"

But in TES things can't simply wash into sewers, the only way inside the sewers is through doors/hatches..

The sewers in the Imperial City were sooo much fun to navigate. I loved how they were a lair to different enemies depending on which part of the city you were under. A similarly complex sewer system is something I would love to see make a return.

Well if they DO intend to make a sewer such as the Imperial sewers, I really hope you will be capable of climbing straight out of the murky water in it.. It really svcked when you accidentally fell into the water and you had to swim until you found some stair or something. This only added to the frustration.

Surely one of the large towns will have a sewer system of some sort. Where did the High King reside before he was killed?

This. The only place you could sneak into was the Imperial City in OB

In that regard we already have sewers. By walking out my front door until I get to the road I have stepped into a 15th century sewer.

I would really love to have them in the game, even if they are simple. It adds a sneaky way into the city that doesn't alert anyone (perhaps beggars) to your presence.

The point is to make posible bandits, vampires and zombies to have a place to roam :P .

I can't imagine sewers being in Skyrim. It just doesn't fit the architecture or culture really.

caves and dungeons will do just fine.

My point exactly, the only reason the sewer was invented was to let outcasts and abominations roam in the dark.

Plus the ability to sneak into towns (which in fact is illegal as well).

What was the people of Skyrim thinking?

I voted "No" in my own poll.. I don't find the sewers appealing at all. Why not make catacombs or something instead? It would serve more use to the people in Skyrim than the sewers ever did.
I'm not saying we should ignore underground systems alltogether, but there should also be some other kinds of underground systems without it being a sewer.
