Will there be a sewer system throughout New Vegas?

I'm expecting sewers and flood drainage systems to replace the subways.

I don't think so. From what I've seen, other than New Vegas, most settlements and important places are only reachable after walking across stretches of desert, and Vegas has no ruins to travel under and even has its own monorail train,

This. Vegas has to deal with flash floods. They have build many tunnels underground to move the water out of the city. To have that in the city of New Vegas would be awesome. To have some that go out past the walls into areas of old Vegas have been abandoned would be even better (secret ways into the city). I just don't want them to be like the subway tunnels in FO3. It bugs me that they act like fast travel teleportation areas.

It sounds like it could work
although I hated the fact there were lots of areas that could only be accessed by traveling through the metro

Will probably see sewer systems as frequent as the sewer system in Oblivion in the imperial city. They're there, and used for 1 or 2 quest, but other then that, you can get by without them.

Just no more Metro stations please!!! They were cool at first in Fallout 3, then just became a annoyance.

prob not metro tunnels but there's gonna be plenty of underground type stuff i would imagine, the metro tunnels were all the same, same color, shape etc. so they were kinda repetitive even though they were ok, i'm expecting something different this time.

How was it like fast travel? You still physically traveled from one location to another...

not really. You go into the tunnel that's far from the location you want to go to. Walk only a few feet open a door an you are at the location. It shortens the travel you would have had to do by foot. At least it seems that way to me.

In my opinion there should be vast underground tunnels beneath New Vegas (just like in Las Vegas). :)

Second. Couldn't stand them. I explored the living shiz out of the desert and buildings in the wastes of F3. But barely wasted any time in the DC ruins, other than when I had to.

I don't mind exploring underground systems, actually I quite like it. But walking through a maze of pointless tunnels that stretched for miles and didn't lead anywhere? Not so much. Occasionally when I came across a door that lead wayy down deep, that was cool. Reminded me of the movie Mimic, where they went way below the normal subway level, like an underground world.

But using them as a tedious form of transportation? Boring. As. Hell.

If you want to play in the sewers, there's something wrong with you. I just don't want to be required to do any more sewer missions.

I enjoyed the Metro DC Area in Fallout 3, but after my first playthrough, the Metro Tunnels were more of a *GRROOOAAANNN* than a 'Oh god this is scary'. I wouldnt mind the Underground if it was optional like Lvoeg said, but if it makes any more required underground spelunking, it'd make me be irked. The metro tunnels are just a bit annoying now.

Greetz,

That should definitely be in there (or modded in).

I don't see the fuss about subway tunnels. I saw nothing really wrong with them, and wasn't annoyed by them.

They all look the same and combined with the poor local map and pip-boy distortion make it difficult to navigate.

What do people expect? Its a subway tunnel ~that's what they look like. I think they did a great job on it.

I never used the minimap  (but seeing as there is no way to really know the layout, I'd say difficult to navigate was fairly realistic).

**Max Payne did do a clever job with subways; managing scenery changes by having the action pass through older abandoned areas, and new construction areas.
They could have certainly done this, and done it well (even though some would have called foul at them "obviously copying Max Payne" :meh: ).

The subways were very true to life. If you've ever been in DC, they can be complex, and they all look the same. It's hard finding your way when there are people and hellers there. Trying it while it's abandoned and wrecked? Yeah, it's frustrating. Makes complete sense, actually.

I like the sewer ideas. They are really extensive in Vegas, and would add another layer. Great place to hide some secret areas and goodies.

Yeah even if they don't have sewers in the initial release, it would make a good DLC.

i keep hearing about how nothing in new vegas is what it seems and that there's a whole underground world that needs to be uncovered so i wouldn't be surprised if there are underground tunnels and settlements throughout the game. personally i preferred traveling through the metros and ruins of D.C. than going the open wasteland. i liked the mountain areas like around the deathclaw sanctuary and oasis though

I just hope they don't turn sewer stations into the only way to reach certain parts. 'thinks back to metro tunnels' :banghead:

Not sure it could be done but it would be awesome to just have the tunnels be long uninterrupted tunnels that don't have load/save points no subway station like areas. It could be a big maze under vegas. Would be alot like the mine tunnels in Redding (FO2). They could have tunnels with ladders going up to points that lead into buildings or run out past the wall of Vegas. Vegas during prohibition had alot of secret tunnels and rooms.

I thought the subways and sewers in 3 were one of the highlights of the game.

I had characters whose entire build (and career in the wasteland) was devoted to exploring the underground maps.... Great hidey holes, and if most of the sections aren't required to access for the main quest, then a large underground tunnel system would add a bunch a replay value to the game. If i really was to change anything about the subways tunnels, I wish more of them connected to each other, so that it were ONE very large tunnel network, with many ways to get in and out.... I like the idea that I could end up with a character LOST in the underground. If the system were big enough, integrating a ghoul community or having travel merchants would be neato, also.
