SGM Taking Requests

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:58 am

No need to apologise, there are times that I disappear from the forums for several months, so no need to hurry on my account.

*thinks for a few moments*

Actually it looks great, but can you make the mountains on the smaller islands a tad shorter? My plan was that the highest point would be on the largest island as a dormant volcano.

This may be an odd request to bring up now, but next time that you take screenshots, could you place an exterior static (a building of some sort) on the island so that I can get a sense of scale? I can look at the game map or in the CS and think about x number of cells, but looking at your screenshots leaves me scratching my head.
I hope that I don't sound whiny or nit-picky.

When your reach the free spot I'd like you to make me one, pretty please. :)

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj238/Chakich/Morrowind/pic1-1.jpg

I haven't marked too much since there are only a few things to mention here.
1 is upper mountain, 2 is the mountain bellow.
Lower area is area beneath the mountains. That area should be flat if you wish so, if you have more time, make them just a bit randomly with small hills and valleys. That level is like that all between the mountains, to the passages marked by the red marks.

Both mountains you can also just randomly raise, the only needed parts are the one marked with a, those parts should have fat and highest chains of mountains, with few valleys between, but you can also randomize those to some point.

One thing I forgot to mark on the map. Now, these mountains around the lower area should be very very high, and there's an area I haven't marked. it's an area, a "peninsula" like reach just beneath the number 1 mark on upper mountain. This area should be also very high above the lower area but not mountain-like, but also flat (again, you can add some minimal hills if possible and easy to do, but that's something I can do).

Finally the grid represents regions, so that you know how bit this is (if you can make it that closely in scale).

If you decide to take up on this, thank you so very much :)

I'm on it now. And its quite a large map as im sure you already know, 451 cells to be precise

Keep your eyes peeled

EDIT: of yeah, shouldn't you know where the landmass should be located?

Where do you want it?

Ok, that map is cool, but, as you said, without pools of water;). Maybe You'll change these depression of terrain for some dunes? And make those hills higher;)

Well, the landmass should be North from Vvanderfell, the most bottom region should be somewhere on (X,52), while the middle region should be somewhere on (1,X). Doesn't have to be completely accurate, of course. :)

Are you still doing this? I've you've got some spare time could you make me an island. I need an island about 12x6 cells, with its western most point at about (55,-5) (I want to be well clear of TR). I've drawn a map, but because the island is completely from my imagination the details aren't important, only the rough shape of the island. The darker I've shaded the land, the higher it is.
http://squidweb.ndirect.co.uk/greatness/Island1.jpg
The most important features are two mountains: one on eastern side of the island, which is quiet large, and another on the rocky eastern coast, which is smaller but steeper than the other, and joined to a fairly low but mountainous ridge that follows the coast. below the eastern mountain is a small inlet surrounded by high cliffs, and west of that a gentle hill that leads down to the coast and a deep estuary. The estuary is fed by a river that forms a valley between gentle hills. The river doesn't need to be made, but the valley does. Between the valley and the ridge is a fairly flat plain, to the south of a large, gentle beath. I know it's quiet detailed but only the main features need to be in and in about the right place, the exact shape of stuff doesn't matter. Ignore the square, ellipse and dots.

Don't worry if you're busy but it'd be great if you could have a go at this, I quite fancy a slow burning modding challenge for a bit.

Hey all, sorry boys and girls. Got alot of [censored] kicking off at the minute. But I will try and get on these over the next few days.

I will complete all the requests ive received so far, but from this post onwards I wont be taking anymore, at least for quite a while. Atleast until i get a good chunk of work done on Skyrim and other projects.

@ The Greatness, That map looks pretty cool, that's the perfect example of what i like to work from. I will definitely enjoy making that for you, i just ask that you be patient :)

Keep your eyes peeled

First kinda sketch, other than the rubbish I made before. Its just over 8000 cells at the minute, compared to around 1800 exterior cells in Vvardenfell, which is obviously a bit silly really, and its all a bit to rough too. Both problems are easily fixed.

Do you have any ideas roughly what size you'd like it?

Not a bad start; I like the mountains.

I'd like to shoot for a grid of 14,641 cells (121 x 121). That means roughly 4 cells per square on the map I uploaded. The size was chosen in order to maximize the amount of cells that the engine can load without encountering any distance-from-center errors.

0,0 should be at the size-2 city marked 'Barunil' on the map.

Well at the minute, the map is 124x115 cells, excluding underwater cells obviously.

I will continue to work on it tomorrow, still got a few rivers to cut out and also fine tune all those hills.
