shadeMe's Construction Set Extender

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:44 pm

Some time ago, shadeMe said he's working on OBSE plugin called Construction Set Extender, one of the many features it sports is the removal of "No" button when Construction Set idiotically asked "Would you like to continue playing?", about which I http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1098474-remove-no-button in Construction Set forum. Well, it doesn;t realy remove the button, just make it behave like "yes".

I've resurrected my Oblivion, so I'd like to resume my work with my Might Morphin' Power Rangers mod, and preferably WITHOUT that "No" button (I have to say that whomever made it was a complete idiot. And no, this is not a mere insult, this is a direct and full-of-anger insult). So, is there any word about this?

He's still working on it. He's gotten to the point where he now readily admits he's working on it, so it must be getting close to release :) We've had a joke going for the longest time about an unnamed benefactor fixing the darn thing

Actually, I would hate if that famous 'No' would loose it's current functionality. It is my preferred way of closing the CS. Ctrl+X, No, bam - closed in a blink of the eye.

Raestloz, have you enabled 'Yes to all' in the ConstructionSet.ini?

Included in that CS Extender or you mean Obse's FastExit2? Because if it's the latter, it doesn't work for CS to me. Currently, on my PC closing the CS results in cooling period of few minutes mostly followed with 'Don't send'. :)

Good to hear read :D I'm so close to bang my PC to the wall because of that darn "Would you like to continue playing?"

I mean, it's not even correctly worded. We're not playing, we're WORKING

Using "Yes to All" would remove the warning completely, and the warning contains that much needed information about what is wrong. It would remove that useless question, yes, but the useful warning is removed too.

Also, can't you use Alt+F4?

I find the whole thing confusing anyway! When I first saw that, I wasn't sure what it meant, picked No and the stupid thing completely closed the CS. Why does one error have to shut down your entire session anyway? :swear:

Now, I could just ask you can't you use Yes. But I wont. :D

Exactly what happened to me the first time saw it ("What the hell? Of course I don't want to play! I want to mod!" -> No -> Oh F**K), and exactly what I thought when I clicked it.

Now, I could just ask you can't you use Yes. But I wont. :D

You can, and I do, but accidents happen, and a bunch of 60 pixels are not that wide

There's this other pop-up (added by OBSE?) warning you that an unknown identifier will be treated as an unquoted string, and would you like to suppress this message for the rest of the session? So when your habit is to click Yes, and you don't catch that this is the wrong dialog, this can happen:

let myArray[key] := myVarialbe

...and now myArray contains the text "myVarialbe" instead of the contents of myVariable. :(

Warning messages should have only an OK button, and a checkbox to suppress further warnings of the same type.

CSE should be out with the next update to OBSE. Nuff said ;) I'm tempted to let you folks take a peek at the manual though

Great to hear read that shadeMe. I'll wait until it's out to start scripting again. I'm NOT going to fall for the same hole again.

I'm sure that's bytes or even kilobytes. So, when can we get a peek at manual?

232 kilobytes, though that'll probably change slightly before release.

So, when can we get a peek at manual?

I'm pleased to offer you the following leaked excerpt:
