Shadowrun Overhaul

Hello everyone..

I'm interested in starting a cyberpunk mod ( overhaul ) for Oblivion.. A long-term project involving all aspects of modding.

I play the paper version of Shadowrun ( 3rd edition ) since quite a few years, and really love that game. However I was also hugely disappointed by the official video game that came out some time back. It's a FPS which vaguely resembles the RPG if at all.
I've also been playing Elder Scrolls since Morrowind, and think it's one of the greatest RPGs ever ( especially considering it's entirely changeable with the construction set ).

So naturally I started thinking about combining these two games.

I do a little 3ds max and a bit of CS, and after going around the forums, wikis and checking out available mods, it seems possible ( to me ) to do something quite cool. Of course it would be a huge project: animation, modelling, scripting etc..

At first I thought of doing by myself slowly by slowly, with a LOT of patience and questionning of more experienced modders. But why not see if anyone else would be interested?

It would start with mostly discussion about possibilities and ( of course ) commenting, but I'm sure something great can be done.

I'm not going to talk details for now, just starting the topic to see where it goes, who's into it and what feedback I get. Like I said I consider this to be a long-term project so there's no hurry.

See you later all, and keep having fun!

---after rereading it seems I insist too much on the shadowrun aspect, but what I'm mostly interested in is a futuristic/cyberpunk mod. I'm not proposing to copy the work done... Shadowrun is just something to be inspired by along with William Gibson's books and other material..
( too late for a title change, sorry ^^ )

After googling shadowrun, I dont know if its possible to pull it off, y'know with all the guns. Maybe on fallout's system? Plus, theres the hurdles of getting a team together, working well, and well, most TC never succeed, so, good luck to you!

I don't know about Fallout ( haven't tried it yet only the second one ) so that's why I'm sticking to Oblivion.. for the guns I was thinking the animation would be the hard part, and the effect would be something like a spell or modified ranged... anyway for now I still have to look into it.
as far as assembling a team, I also thought it would be quite hard, but this is just to see if there are people motivated. Otherwise I'm anyway going to try it out on my own, for the fun of it!

thanks! seeya round

Fallout would much better lend itself to ShadowRun than Oblivion. While afaik theres no full blown implementation of a magic system yet, there are the bones of the one from Oblivion in it's code.

Visually and technically, pretty sure FO3 would be much much better for SR than Oblivion. And the FO3 GotY edition with all the DLC is pretty reasonable (30 bucks or so).

Still, I would like to see a well done implementation of ShadowRun, I played the p&p way way back when for a bit, and wasted tons of hours with ShadowRun on the SEGA Genesis.
