Is Shalidor still alive?

Well, my question is in the Topic:

Is Archmage Shalidor still alive in the Fortress of Ice or did he die?

Considering it happened in the 1st era, he is almost certainly dead. That is if he ever really existed at all - Arena is proto lore at most, and this Shalidor is just a single line from it.

Can the same thing be said about Fenrik and Notorgo? As in Fenrik's Doorjamb and Feet of Notorgo spells? They're the ones who came up with those spells, right? I mean it's like naming a comet after the person who discovers it, I guess.

I've always wondered about these early-era magi who were mentioned in Arena/Daggerfall. Another two that come to mind are Balyna and Phynaster, although the latter's artifact persisted up to Morrowind and probably is still a canon figure as a result.

Tes96 - To me, Notorgo always sounded like the name of some alien in Futurama.

Still alive? Maybe. Maybe Shalidor and his labyrinth will be featured in TESV. Maybe. In some Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade kind of quest. Second best in the series, only because the chick in the Temple of Doom talked too much.

Which Indian Jones movie is the one where that girl in class has "love you" written on her eyeslids?

Raiders of the Lost Ark. The best in the series. Both Raiders and Crusade have scenes in his classroom. If all goes well, I'll be teaching 'your' kids archaeology/anthropology in seven years.

Your is quoted, because this is a generalization. You will not have children in college, at that time, but some who read this may.

Notorgo was the name of a regional god, I think. I vaguely recall one of the books mentioning a myth about him in Daggerfall.

The romantic world of archaeology and anthropology was introduced to me through the Indiana Jones films - I have to say that the social sciences are still the only academic subjects I can stomach, although what with the dearth of Nazis I'm not sure if I'd enjoy the profession too well.

Well, the best in the series - not factoring that annoying, singer woman; and third if you do - didn't have any Nazi's, but the chinese tong and thuggis. Then Crusade was supposed to incorporate Journey to the West and the myth of the tree of life. Also without Nazis.
