Shapeshifting

Post » Wed Dec 15, 2010 9:42 pm

I could live without werewolves and vampires, what I really want is shapeshifting. I'd love to explore Skyrim as wolf (not a werewolf), escape enemies as a bird and at one point become a dragon. You could maybe even disguise yourself in areas where people despise you. What does everyone else think?

Yeah I would absolutely love to be able to shapeshift in Skyrim. Of course odds are that it wont be implemented in Skyrim however a man can dream right?

I loved the shape shift spell from midas Magic. I loved running around Cirodiil as a wolf.

I would be all for it but i'm not sure it's very lore friendly.

But they've bent the lore before in the past. If they can ban spells why not make some new ones?

mechanically, it would be pretty easy to have it. The same way the fire spell has different modes or whatever, shapeshifting could be a different mode of the summoning spell.

I would love this! It could have nice little gameplay bonuses too, aside from simply looking different and having a different running animation than normal. Like in Zelda: Twilight Princess, being a wolf could make you lighter so you can run on top of the snow, whereas being in human/orc/whatever mode means you have to slowly wade through it and so on. And being a bird would certainly help with reaching high ledges and mountaintops. :D

I like the idea but I doubt it will happen. Maybe if we're lucky someone will mod it in later.

Yeh! This kind of magic should be implemented in the Necromance Guild... If there is one. Good idea.

Well, there was a few shapeshifting spells in Daggerfall, but they didn't work. Personally, if it's there, I would like it be only taught by a select few, and by select few I mean the coven witches. In addition, you REALLY need to be on their good side before they'll reveal their secrets to someone, especially if you're a male.

Still not interested in shapeshifting, Captain Obvious.

Warewolves and snowy mountains, thats a winning combination :)

Imagine a rentless howling echoing from the majestic moutains, .a lone merchant trying to find shelter from the snow storm. The man is running for his life to the nearest village. Sadly greediness to hire proper escort from fighters guild, not enough exercise, not enough training seals his fate. The sounds of growling come closer and the poor lad collapses in the snow breathing heavily. the sweat freezes fast on his soft chubby face...

Sounds cool, but I'm not sure about the dragon that might be a little much. Maybe an illusion spell that makes you look like a dragon but doesn't actually change you. Kind of random but another cool spell would be making an identical clone of yourself that runs around so you could summon it and turn invisible and have all the guards chasing you chase it out into the wilderness not realizing that you were back in their city until it the clone disappears and they freeze to death.

This would be interesting. Maybe a special power you could learn from the Skyrim witches. I'd limit it to one animal per character though. Turning into a saber-toothed cat FTW.

Rather be a werewolf than shapeshift into a small wolf or whatever else.

Shapeshifting is very http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Ettiene_of_Glenmoril_Wyrd.

Being taught/sold spells by witches (perhaps in exchange for dealing with a naked Nord?), would be pretty awesome.

Could make for an interesting dragon shout, too.

You were the one agreeing you don't want to smell like wet dog. Try wet chicken, it's much more better. :meh:

I'd prefer shape-shifting stay out of TES, save for lycanthropy. It was only in Daggerfall, because lore was still young.

It would be different then the average line of spells that are available to us I wouldn't mind shape shifting. Even if it isn't released with the game I'm sure some mods will be made to do that unfortunately for me I don't have a PC that's capable of running Skyrim.

If it has to be in, I want it to be learned through hard effort from a Coven.
