Things I wouldnt wanna own when eso launches:

shares in blizzard

shares in any other game company

I mean, like everyone is guessing how many people will jump ship. some people reckon loads like the majority. other people reckon some. no ones daft enough to say none.

i figure no matter what, its going to make its mark on other mmos. just waiting to see how big its boot print is and if it leaves a big bruise hahah

Why do people keep saying ESO will kill WoW ?! I won't.

WoW has:

- best PVE end game progression of all MMOs currently on the market. ESO's raids will not compete with that.

- more diverse PVP content, namely arenas and rated battlegrounds.

- more responsive combat mechanics.

- more popularity

- more hardcoe [censored]

The word "fan.boy" is censored ?! Really, mods ?!

shares as in the stock market i suppose.

He is basically saying ESO is too good that all other will fail and the value of the company will drop in the market.

WoW is only popular because you spend a lot of time in Azeroth so it's hard to throw it away.

Honestly I don't see the point of an expansion fighting SoO mobs.... Plus there is nothing to do atm but kill Garrosh till September and then get all that gear replaced by level 92-93

And a big advantage of having 10 years of improvement. Hard enough to even compete with that, do not think ESO will likely leave a dent in their subscriptions.

Nothing will kill WoW. On the flip side ESO will be a success.

Every new MMO that releases we hear this. Yet, none seem to make that mark over WoW. There isn't a game that will ever be created that will "kill WoW". The only thing that will kill it is if Blizzard moves onto bigger and better things.

Get that through your thickness ontop of your shoulders.

Rofl....

Seriously... How can you even compare...

WoW has 10 vs 10 and 25 vs 25... Arena max 5 vs 5

ESO has about 300 vs 300 and no instakill heirloom S**ts

Nothing is going to kill WoW. WoW will die off eventually...when it is time. I think ESO will be successful, but nothing has the power to take WoW down. Even if a super-awesome, incredible game came out, WoW fanatics would still play WoW as well as the new game. Just the facts.

WoW will eventually die. Time has its way with all things. However, whether or not Blizzard will have the game to take up the legacy is another question. I wager some other entity will fill the power vacuum.

Skilled pvp players like to be challenged and praised when they win. 300 vs 300 where individual skill means 0 and no one cares you kept up the flag carried while 10 people were beating on him, aren't really an attraction for these type of pvp-ers. Not everyone enjoys zergfests where you can jump in naked and still wreck people.

There is plenty of small scale pvp in cyrodiil. even if you pvp in towns you control expect to find enemy playes. its also not really 300v300. I think most I saw was maybe 100v100 but still that might be pushing it.

I'm not a fan of WoW and love ESO immensely and can't wait for April but ESO isn't going to kill WoW. At this point pretty much nothing can. The game is to ingrained in the public consciousness and is very close to becoming Kleenex - the brand name that most people call every product of that type by i.e. Kleenex instead of facial tissue.

It's definitely best to keep the hype in check. Is ESO a good game? Sure (depending on you ask because opinions vary). Is it going to go F2P within 3 months to a year? Probably not. Is it going to be the game that dethrones WoW? No it won't. It's bad enough if fans think it will but heaven help any game developer that thinks that way for they will be in for an eye opening experience. Think of WoW as McDonalds. Is it good food? No. Is it good for you? No. However it does taste good (if you don't think so you're an anomaly since it is engineered to trigger the taste sensations humans crave) and it's there.

That's what WoW is for most people. It's not the best game, it's not the most innovative game but it's there it's decent enough for the price and people usually don't like change.

WoW has more pvp diversity?

You mean doing the same exact bgs 10-90 then doing them on a repeated grind for gear that you end up replacing?

ESO PVP IS MUCH more diverse imo

True but going out to find small scale pvp generally means ganking nooblets, pve-ers and undergeared people who are also outnumbered and unprepared to face an organized group, that's not challenging pvp. Skilled pvp-ers want to face-off against equally skilled and prepared opponents, which can only happen in an arena or rated battleground kind of instance which ESO will not have.

Not even WoW:2 would kill WoW. It's the immortal MMO and always will be.

I can take a footbal match and reduced it to your basic views.

What's the big deal about playing footbal ? You just run after a ball for 90 minutes and try to put it in the opponent's goal net.

It's not about the game's basics, it's about what happens during it.

I agree with HolyDrumstickofLove on this. Wonder if Blizzard would do an MMO version of Starcraft..... But as far as ESO...I was a fan of Dark Age of Camelot and the PvP there. I think ESO will be a success. Variety is good for MMO's. WoW fans get the type of PvP they like and others looking for a new game and new style of gameplay get to enjoy ESO.

Bet you didn't think you'd be saying that line when you woke up this morning ;)

I think we should all agree with HolyDrumStickofLove more, it might just make the world a better place :D

*sigh* no ESO will not kill WoW...why? read here: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1492519-success-failure-and-expectations/

before every mmo release since WoW people claimed that "This game will ruin Blizzard" nope... did not...and ESO will not be different. Don't get me wrong... while I have a few complaints I think ESO is a good game... different from WoW and imho better...

But let's look at SWTOR... far bigger franchise... great developer...huge publisher...did the release make a dent in other game companies stock? Nope!

Another reason is... just because a game is release does not mean the markets react... the market reacts when Blizzard or any other company announces subscriber numbers and quarterly earnings.

I would actually recommend buying Activision Blizzard stock (Blizzards parent company that is actually traded) because Reaper of Souls... almost guaranteed success... should make the stock jump a bit.... might be to late though...

I think ESO will get a lot of new people into MMO's

those who played Skyrim and I know people who are fans of the fallout series that have tried the weekend beta and enjoyed it.

I've seen some livestream (not giving names but he did have over 500 viewers) where the guy streaming was horrible. Poorly built character, poorly played and didn't even know exactly what was going on all the time. He was like "wheee, this is so fun!". It was a battle in Cyrodiil, he didn't die once, especially because he was also playing a ranged character with a bow (where his main thing was mashing the light attack mouse button). That's not gonna get skilled people interested, that's gonna get average pvp-ers, casuals and terribads interested, which...are more numerous than the skilled ones so it's great for ZOS.
