I was hoping you could choose to have a daughter . My guess is that Shaun somehow left the vault around 100 years earlier. Over time he became a cyborg and became the leader of one of the factions - most likely the villain of the game.

You meet him as an old man near the end of the main quest (or he is dead but you meet his descendants). (Your spouse is probably dead).

Well he is called Shaun according to E3.

Anything prior to leaving the Vault will be ignored and given my track record I doubt any will ever advance the MQ very much and even fewer will complete it.

There are 5000 common names recorded for the protagonist.

So if you pick a name like Howard, NPCs will call you by howard instead of wastelander or whatever.

Er... no? 'Almost a thousand' if I remember correctly and that's only for one NPC, Codsworth.

No. It's probably a super secret plot twist. But the child has a name and is generated based on our appearance, which seems like a lot of work for a character destined to die five minutes into the game.

True, but so is recording close to a thousand names for a single optional companion to use occasionally.
