And then the son says ''JOIN ME IN THE DARK SIDE''
No wait that was the father.
Whatever it still sounds cool.

If you play as the mother how is the father supposed to feed the baby?
i hope they are never brought up again unless you go looking for options to be heartfelt and sad about them, i will rp that they never happened personally.
i think beth said that we are the sole surviver of 111 so the babys dead
I wouldn't mind seeing Shaun really but the wife is dead on sight for me, due to how I'm roleplaying my character.
My guess is your spouse and child become androids.
One will accept their fate the other will not.
You are the sole survivor of the attack of the one who does not.
One goes on to support the Institute the other brings the BoS to destroy the Institute.
Another possibility is one is an android and the other is not leading to a similiar scenario.
If the first is true I won't care about either If the second is true I wil back the non 'droid.
Somehow, I think we don't see any more of the baby and mother, except to perhaps hear of their deaths... I hope not, but yeah...
He'll be John.. I mean, Shaun Connor, leader of the last human resistance vs Institute Systems' cyborgs!
Frankly, I hope that we can have a daughter rather than a son since Todd was careful to say "baby" rather than "son". I'm sick of all the "parent-son" stories and find them boring, especially compared to "parent-daughter" stories. I don't have any empathy for "parent-son" stories/relationships, but find "parent-daughter" stories to have plenty of emotional connection. They are far less common, too, so it would be much more interesting from a narrative/creative standpoint.
I'd prefer not to see Shaun in person, I like the idea of the Sole Survivor discovering their dead family in Vault 111 & having to deal with that trauma.
Todd's comment on an emotional story & the fact that you can decide what your spouse & child looks like (the child being the combo of the two) could mean that your family could then appear in a Tranquility Lane type VR as part of a quest or the Institute could create android versions of your family to trick you or in exchange for your help.
In the demo he was a boy named Shaun. The wife calls him boy.
Am I the only one who wants to see Shaun as a super mutant?
"My my son, how you've grown!"
How is it any different? Its a kid, your kid, and you have to stop/help him/her. It doesn't really matter to me what gender they are. How exactly do you find them boring may I ask? I think they are about on par in movies/games/books/TV and whatever else you watch. Of course there will be differences (duh) but they will still have the same basic premises.
I personally would rather not have the other spouse/son survive. Could be interesting if the son is an antagonist or the Spouse.
Irrespective of whether he plays a vital role or not I just hope we don't have to find him.
"I'm looking for my son, fairly-young guy, maybe you've seen him?"
That sounds like such an utterly atrocious story that I'm now fully expecting it from the "talented" writers at Bethesda.
Can you explain this one small detail for me.. If shaun was a baby when he was frozen, how would he be able to leave when he was thawed? Could be with the mom.. Can't they just all die in the vault and have the main character as the sole survivor. Maybe, just maybe the vault experiment was to have one survivor experience the world without any person who experienced something similar. So, the player character would awake amongst all the dead residents of the vault to leave and see death across the wastes but have none with a similar experience.
