Shelter from Magnus' Blaze 10 (MGE XE)

Post » Mon Jun 25, 2012 2:22 pm

From what mod is the exteriors being visible from interiors?

From my unfinished mod. I've never released it, because it is a bit buggy and I've done only Pelagiad and Balmora (partly). I think I've uploaded pre-alpha version somewhere here/ But now, with that bug in MGE XE it doesn't work at all.

Thanks for the response. Shame that it had some issues as it looked really nice.

The bottles look too ghostlike though.

I play MW from an external HD, i reinstalled windows yesterday, and started up morrowind, the game starts fine and everything, but I can no longer set the screen resolution in MGE XE. I chose the maximum available 1366 x 768, but when i start the game there are black bars down the left and right hand side of the screen.

After running some tests, it seems to me that MGE XE is unable to affect my screen resolution at all.

what OS are you using? if Windows 7/Vista have you installed Morrowind on a folder outside of Progam Files? try starting Morrowind launcher as an admin and setting your resolution there, start the game and quit, then go to MGE and set your final resolution.

Still no luck, I set the resolution through the launcher and made it windows mode 640x480, that went fine. Exited the game changed to full screen and 1366x768 in MGE. Started the game and it is indeed full screen but still 640x480

edit: Did the same test again, changing the options in MGE did nothing this time :(

Well, the resolution settings are stored in the registry, so you could try editing the keys directly. I think you should check the registry and make sure the installed path is still the same, in the event you have another drive that is causing the drive Morrowind is installed on to be recognized as a different letter than what is stored in the install path in the registry. If it's different, you'll need to manage your drives or update the registry keys.

Perhaps it could be because I have never technically installed Morrowind on this operating system. Before i reformatted, i installed Morrowind onto the external hard drive, now I am just trying to play it from the external hard drive. I will make an attempt to edit the registry keys

I installed this, and everything has worked fine, apart from a get a white line through the screen, where the Horizon is. Even though the middle of land. Does anyone know a fix for this? :o

Okay I just did a fresh install, including bloodmoon. Downloaded MGE and installed it in this new directory. MGE still cant change the screen resolution.
I went to regedit, looked for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind
But its not there (using 64bit windows 7), even after I just installed the game :/ WTH. Its like Morrowind isen't writing to the registry
I was following instructions here:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Technical_Information#Resolution_and_Aspect_Ratio

This program crashes and tells me i don't have morrowind installed, right after i've installed it

I'm really running out of ideas to try.

If you mean stuff like water and HUD mods, I don't think so. The HUD mods won't work unless they're rewritten and MGE XE uses its own water shader. MWSE mods should work with no problem though.

If you mean the one that PirateLord made, it was specifically made for use with XE.

Are there any keys at all for Bethesda Softworks or Morrowind? Did you try looking in other locations, like LOCAL_MACHINE (who knows) or searching the registry? Are other options, like Difficulty, Auto-Save when Rest, Always Use Best Attack, Subtitles, Crosshair, Mouse Sensitivity, key bindings, Widowed or Fullscreen, and Pixel Shading being saved? They are all saved in the registry too. CS settings like window position and preferences are saved in the registry also; are they saved? The only think I can think of is that there is no registry key. You might have to create one, though there are a lot of keys and creating them all by hand isn't the best solution. Someone could give you their keys. I could give mine, but I'm not sure how to move them, especially from another OS, and mine are in LOCAL_MACHINE.

I'm no expert at this, but I really wouldn't imagine that installing on an external would be a problem for the registry. You could try installing on the drive with the OS to see if it creates the keys, and then just change the installed path for MW and the CS. If you can get the keys created, back them up. I've little experience with Windows after XP, but maybe there is some permission thing going on that I always see people complain about.

I'm guessing MRC is crashing because it can't find the registry key telling it where MW is installed.

Okay I know the problem now,
My registry has TWO entries for morrowind.
One is in HKEY USERS -> VIRTUALSTORE -> BETHESDA
The other one is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432 -> Bethesda

The game looks to the registry in the virtual store section when starting up, whereas MGE writes to the one in Wow6432, If i delete the entry in virtual store, would the game automatically scan the registry and use the one in wow6432?

I had this problem, and was able to fix it by deleting the registry entries in the wrong place, then running the morrowind launcher and changing the resolution there.

The Wow6432 should be the correct entry. Back up your data files folder just in case you need to reinstall. If you do, delete both entries and any other instance of Morrowind in the registry first.

When i activate Range Vertex fog + enable Shaders my whole screen is blue (fog color).
Anyone knows how i can fix this? Iam using a nVidia GTX260 with the newest drivers and i think it was working in the past, can anyone confirm this prolem is caused by the new driver? thanks!

Yeah, there seems to be an issue with bloom and vertex fog. I've had the same problem as you, in that it used to work. It stopped working for me with the update that brought the new lighting system, if I recall, so I don't think it's the drivers. It also seems to depend on the camera angle in my case. It works fine without bloom for me though.

Between bloom and range fog though, I have to choose bloom. I miss my range fog...

for me its always complete foggy screen as soon as i activate shaders, even when there is no shader selected

but now i noticed how good MW looks with the range vertex fog and that i dont realy need the shaders + the performance is 3x better.
