0.8.23 release

Shaders can signal to turn off standard sun glare. Sunshaft shader automatically turns off glare.

If you're having fog issues still, and you have some time to work on solving it please e-mail me.

Email sent.

Still having fog issues. "Normal" fog setting gives the gray screen effect from my screenshot. "High Quality" fog doesn't roll right in like the other setting, but doesn't look right either.

ATI 5770 w/ latest drivers
AMD Athlon 6400+ (dual core)
4 gig ram
W7 64 bit Home Premium

Let me know what I can do to assist.

some minor issues i want to report:
Spoiler

http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/7930/blurrysky.jpg - in foggy + overcast weather, the skytex is very blurry for some reason

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/4357/watertexflying.jpg - the watertexture is not affected by fog with the same density as land is, while flying high. the edges between land and water have heavy flickering while moving

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/4334/waterhorizonline.jpg - when flying high, the water has a hard line with the fog color wich is moving with the players view

http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/2411/vvardenfellfromabove.jpg - when flying VERY high, whole vvardenfell is just a white circle

i know that morrowind is no flightsim but maybe its easy to fix for you.

I just installed MGXE..followed all the install instructions...and i've already recieved a few problems.

I've got an ATI 4850, 8GB of RAM and 3.0ghz core 2 duo processor.

My display drivers are up to date (2011)

When I was running North from the Vivec Silt Strider the .exe stopped working.

When I was running north from the Seyda Neen Silt strider the gpu literally stopped working. I heard the fan start up again. The program froze, black screened and returned me to the desktop.

I checked the temperature of my card. Its at 50 degrees.

EDIT: I noticed real time shadows was enabled in the options menu...could that be it? I'll post the log in a few.

Could it be because in 3rd person you see your body which helps sets the focal distance, while in 1st person you typically see nothing straight in front of you?

BTW I use XFX HD5770 1 GB and the latest MGE XE works splendidly except for a few nitpicks:
-Projected shadows disappear when I jump extremely high
-Some fogging problems in the distance
-Sometimes distant land transitions to normal land oddly when I approach it; it's most noticable with extremely steep (nearly vertical) mountain surfaces
-Under Win7 x64 SP1 I need to run both MGE XE and Morrowind as admin for MGE XE settings to work properly
-I really miss vertex-animated water :)

DOF only appears in 3rd person view for me too. Not sure if it is an MGExe error, I hope someone can clarify that.

I get it just fine in first person POV.

Hey Hrnchamd,
what do I need to do to include the activators from http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7736?
It doesn't show up in distant land.
I ticked the "include activators" as well as the BUUL.esp.
Do I need to make an exception list?
Where are activators stored anyway?

you will need an exception list for those particular meshes.

Is there any reason the 3rd person camera is locked to -25Y? I just tried to angle the camera up past my head but it doesn't allow me to move past the back of the player. Would it be possible to remove that limit? I think if we could get the 3rd person camera to be at eye level with the player character and then someone wrote a shader that just put the crosshair as a screen overlay...

Hi there,

I've just upgraded from MGE to MGE XE and what a difference the shadows make! :goodjob:

Just one thing, I seem to have a problem where whenever I scroll over an item/npc/door/ui item that displays a tooltip my game freezes for a second. Everything else is smooth and fine until I mouse over something that gives an info popup. The freeze only lasts a second but it makes navigating the inventory a pain and interrupts otherwise very smooth gameplay (for info, the tooltip renders fine apart from the freeze).

This only seems to happen with MGE XE, reverting back to MGE fixes the problem, as does just not using either MGE or MGE XE. Any idea what could be causing this?

Cheers,

Ithilien

EDIT: Nevermind, a reinstall seems to have fixed this.

Oh hey, I was just about to post about my issue in this thread when I noticed it was very similar to yours.

I've been getting CTDs about every 30 minutes or so of gameplay with MGE XE which fit your description pretty well - the game freezes for a few seconds, black screen, crash to desktop. I haven't noticed my GPU being reset, but I wasn't listening for it. I even have the same video card.

The crashes happen everywhere, inside or outside, and persist even if I turn off almost every feature of MGE XE. See http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1194812-periodic-ctds/ for more details.

I've had very little issues since. :)

I believe MGE XE doesn't use these settings at all. The values are kept in case you want to revert to non-XE MGE. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmm - OK.

So then what if you set that stuff in MGE then update to this - will it port settings - doesn't seem to.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably called "excess junk" for a reason. Hrnchamd was probably just too lazy to modify the GUI more than necessary.

ini settings are under "In-game" tab and not "excess junk"

Hello everyone. :)

I can't find the exact post, but Hrnchamd did state sometime during the early development that all redundant MGE settings would temporarily go to the "Excess junk" tab. If any of them prove to be useful (which is unlikely), then they will be restored. The "Excess junk" tab will be removed completely after a while.

Also, I don't think reverting to regular MGE from XE restores any previous settings.
