Shenk Thievery Overhaul?

Post » Mon Dec 16, 2013 2:44 am

Hey, just wondering about this mod for my new thief character. Does it work well, or is it still broken? Alot of the comments (from awhile ago) say the mod is broken and needs work. Does anyone have experience with it?

Thanks

It looks like it could have been a great mod, but my impression is that it is an abandoned WIP.

I have not tried it and I would never try it because:

1. The mod was last updated on 22 March, 2012, so it looks like it was made for Skyrim patch 1.4.

2. The Skyrim Patch version release dates are 28/02/2012 (1.4.027.0.4) and 30/03/2012 (1.5.026.0.0).

3. The mod author's last comments seem to have been posted on 15 March, 2012, and talks about irresolvable CTDs

4. The mod has 13,746 Unique D/Ls and 306 Endorsemants (2.23%), which is not too shabby, but the number of seriously negative comments makes me wary.

There are a large number of mods that make the Thief experience better in Skyrim.

One Skill Overhaul that works and is updated and maintained is "Stealth Skills Rebalanced - Sneak - Lockpicking - Pickpocket" by kryptopyr
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28418/

There are several versions of "intensity" of the mod, so have a good read of the Description page and see what you think. Kryptopyr has made a lot of good mods. I don't like absolutely every subjective choice he has made for some of them, but they are well-made, work well and are maintained by a successful author who is still very much active.

For Thief guild quests etc, you could have a look at "Thieves Guild Requirements - No Auto Quest Start Brynjolf", also by kryptopyr.

And search the Nexus and check things like dates etc as old scripts for old papyrus versions could be a bit of a disaster.

I second what ShadeyBladey said.

i would suggest to get the thievery in your game going with a mix of some more recent and much more bugfree mods, all of which updated after Dragonborns release.

on top of Shadeys suggestions i'll throw Sneak tools http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19447/? Skyrim sewers 4 http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14351/? and Shortcuts http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27189/? into the ring

Yes! I forgot about Sneak Tools. I put it in a few weeks ago for my newest character (Dunmer Nightblade).

I have about 30 Thief mods in my browser Favourites, too many to list. but Sneak Tools was recommended a while ago by a friend who loves the whole Riften thief Guild thing and loves stealing stuff.

I'll also check out your other suggestions, which are more in line with the OP's query about Shenk Thievery Overhaul.

Also Bank of Skyrim, The Art of the Deal, Bandits and Highwaymen etc.

Cheers!

Feature wise, Shenk's add dungeons to each city (@Morrowind type, treasure, guards, locks), but, even that should be fine tuned.

Then, to add over why using this mod (at last directly) = quite some edit who would have to be deleted

(especialy the ladders and others roof edits who make edits to pathgrid thus adding to incompatibility (large scale over multiples edits)).

So far I did not find any others city treasure vault..
