[WIPz] Sheogorad - Forsaken Isles

Post » Mon Dec 13, 2010 7:51 pm

Whoa, this is HUGE news!!! As much as I share the heartbreak at there being no quest (dialog? NPCs?), I have to agree that a release will generate a lot more attention, including from modders, if the response to the Anequina mod is any indication. I wonder if the entirety of Mzulet will even be accessible without using the console, or whether the Cyrodiil dungeon that takes the player to Sheogorad will be implemented? I suppose I'll find out soon because I'm definitely downloading the instant it becomes available.

Wow. I feel exactly the same way as Locksley - and I'm sorry that you had to make this difficult decision.

On the other hand: Dwemer ruins, daedric ruins, MW style Imperial architecture, all high quality... I guess this will bring Oblivion modding to a whole new level. At least, it will for me.
My deepest respect, and huge thanks for making all of this open source.

I am sorry to hear that you have needed to make such a decision.:( I will however feel like a kid in a candy store with all these incredible resources that will undoutably be used both in Pell's Gate and in my next town mod.

PS..... any bubble streams in there?

Very excited for some additional mw themed content. I think you made the right decision, Phitt. It would be sad to see this thing languish on the sidelines like the vvardenfell glass project.

Who knows, maybe the early release might stir up some additional authors to help this thing along.

Don't expect too much from the actual gameplay. There will be no NPCs except for a few placeholder bandits in some of the dungeons. There aren't even pathgrids in the exteriors since the landscape isn't finished yet. I may generate some placeholder LOD, but not sure about that. Mzuleft is very unfinished, but can be entered. Only two dungeons are complete yet (one small Velothi and a relatively large Daedric), but they don't have any 'real' enemies or loot yet. The release is mainly a resource for other modders, but I hope it will still be nice to walk around a bit and have a look.

But I decided that I want to make at least the starter dungeon with the train ride before I release it. That means one small Dwemer dungeon will be complete as well and you'll have the train (which I remade from scratch during the last days) as well as a tiny quest to repair the train and get to Sheogorad.

I am sorry to hear that you have needed to make such a decision.:( I will however feel like a kid in a candy store with all these incredible resources that will undoutably be used both in Pell's Gate and in my next town mod.

Sorry, haven't seen any bubble streams in Sheogorad. :P

I am definately awaiting this one. is the rest of the island of Vvardenfell included? By that I mean the general layout of the land uncluttered and empty or does this only include Sheograd and the Upper Ashlands?

It's the whole Vvardenfell landscape (without Solstheim), but only the northern Ashlands and Sheogorad are cluttered. The rest is only (badly) auto textured by TesAnnwyn.

This is great news. It's a shame that the project isn't completed, but I can't wait to see what people (myself included) do with the open source version. :)

Dwemer train is done (http://s66.photobucket.com/albums/h271/Phittte/Train.jpg), now I only need to make the dungeon and the small quest. Will take a few days, but at least the very first part of the mod can be played...

I understand how hard the decision must have been, but i think that in the end you've made the right one. I gota say that even walking around the landscape is a huge treat, its beautiful in its own right. im pretty sure people will want to help after seeing all the awesome you've already made.

@Phitt: I hope you can find the time to finish this mod, even if it takes another year. As much as I would love for a 2009 release I would rather wait for a finished product. I just know that if someone else were to use the assets to create their own mod that they'll include a sh*tload of inferior material (like pink glass armour or something). One thing I've always loved about your mod is that you really only used the best mods for your own mod.

Though I am glad to at least have the work you've done so far.

Also, what are the village screenshots on your photobucket page of, is this some new mod that you're working on?

The train is true next-gen worthy.
Incredible.

Also, I know how hard it must've been to free the work on this.
But I also see that this will bring a huge amount of perfected work into cycle.
I mean, imagen what Silgrad Tower could do with this...

I'm sure the end result will be worth the time, regardless.

Phitt, I tried to send you a message, but your inbox is full. I should have your e-mail adress somewhere, but if not:
Would you mind if I released/used some of the meshes I made for FI?

This is part of the reason why there weren't any updates for Sheogorad during the last month. It was meant to be my entry for the ORE farm challenge, but I didn't make it in time. I'll finish it anyway eventually, but now I'll concentrate on getting the Sheogorad Alpha out.

Sent you an email. In case you didn't get it: yes, of course you can release any of your stuff, no need to ask.

I posted a rather important message concerning all Forsaken Isles member's on our board, especially for Phitt. Here is a link: http://phittmodforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sgeneral&action=display&thread=160&page=3

If you are still interested in helping Phitt with the project, I'd appreciate some responses. Thanks.

Nice train Phitt.

Phitt do you still have my Ald Redaynia interiors? I completed all the shacks way back, but the most recent version on the forums doesn't have them merged in. I hope I didn't delete them, they may still be on my old PC somewhere, I can check for them at Xmas time if you need.

Wow this looks amazing. Can't wait to try it (and can't wait for that modder's resource to be released either :).) I love seeing old Morrowind stuff redone for Oblivion. It's so cool.

Replied as well. Summary: incredibly busy until the semester ends, then I'm free to complete my assigned tasks and do any new textures. May be able to do landscaping (and would be incredibly happy to--provided my comp runs TESCS IV).

I'm sure Phitt will be around soon for the alpha. When that's released we can all see what is needed to do.

I'd start something right now if I knew what needed to be done, but I can wait a bit.
