Shift+E on a follower command shortcut

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 1:43 pm

By an accident I discovered this shortcut, where if you hold SHIFT and press E while aiming on the current follower, you can command the follower to move on the destination you point ;)

Wanted to post this, since there are several requests for a mod, that adds a shortcut key for that command :)

This isn't a cheat. It's a normal game mechanic.

The forum category is called "Skyrim Cheats, Hints, and Spoilers" and this is a Hint, don't expect everything to be about cheats on these forums.

I 'm aware this is the hint section, but I wouldn't call this a hint either. If people don't know the controls after playing for the first hour or two, they should find an easier hobby. Also, you specifically said shortcut in the thread title, and a shortcut falls under my definition of cheat.

It is a shortcut, what's wrong with you? It is a shortcut, because you don't have to initialize the conversation with your following companion to give commands to move around, so that by definition is a shortcut. If you would start to debate about it with developers of the game, you would fail.

All I can tell, that your post is a troll post :P

I'm not being a troll at all, as a troll would be flaming you, and I am not. I'm legitimately debating whether or not this post belongs here, and I don't believe it does.

EDIT: Also, seeing as you've thrown out the word 'troll', it would seem that you've already decided not to be open-minded and have a civil conversation, so I bid you farewell.

To OP: I was unaware of this hint/shortcut, so thank you for posting it. Now I apparently have to find an easier hobby...

Well and you aren't insulting all gamers out there who did not know the shortcut, aren't you? I was one of them so i appreciate the info. Also the game itself does not explain this during normal playthrough. I haven't seen a single NPC who told me to press CTRL+E.

BTT: Thanks for this nice little hint!

That wasn't meant as an insult, as I'm aware that a lot of young kids are playing more advanced games (such as Skyrim) nowadays. Many of them actually should play easier games, especially since if they had read the manual that came with the game they would already know this control. Unfortunately many of them (as well as some older gamers) just enter the game blindly pressing buttons and hoping for the best.

Ideally you would already know the control before you even began to play.

Hold down the A button while your cross-hair is aimed at your companion.

I can only speak on the Scandinavian version of the PC game. It does not include manual that has this much detail. There is a 2-page quickstart in English, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish - that's all. Also, I have found no pdf manual on the game disc.

It took me 30+ hours to find this out, I guess I chose the wrong hobby as well :)
