I'm in the Camp Guardian Caves... I actually have the creeps. This place thoroughly creeps me out. I haven't done much cave exploration in the game... Are there many places like this?

That cave isn't even that creepy... did you go through the Dunwich Building in Fallout 3?

Dunwich Building was definitely infinitely creepier than anything in FO:NV... Vault 34 is probably the closest thing to the Dunwich Building in the Mojave.

Speaking of creepy, I was standing next to a grave in Scorpion Gulch(?) preparing to plant some mines and I swear I heard whispering... weirded me out a little, I stopped everything I was doing to listen to the wind, not what I heard.

The Dunwich Building is nothing, trying playing F.E.A.R. in the dark on your own, it scared the bejebus out of me lol.

But back on topic, I'm just at Nipton on my second play through and did very little cave/sewer crawling first time around and I plan to rectify that this time :)

Edit: CyricTheMad you can hear whispering ...
Spoiler
in the graveyards at Camp Forlorn Hope too

i doubt that it is as scary a some places in fear and ive heard of the dunwitch building but some times when i was playing through S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl i swear i had to do an extra set of laundry because i had pissed my pants. I actuall searched for shamwow boxers when i was bored.

BTW was like 11 or something so prob not as scary as i remember.

I played the F.E.A.R. titles, now THAT game is creepy... I lost count of the amount of times I jumped while playing that game or had to pause and take a breather because I just had my nerve slapped out of my body, lol.

FEAR? What? No. Try playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent alone at night, no lights and headphones on. You'll give up.

YES!
That's happened to me, too. D:

... They added alot of sounds. For example.. I was standing next to a water tower (The one in Goodsprings), and when it creaked, I screamed. Just wasn't expecting it x'"D

Silent Hill 3 is scarier. Not as good otherwise, but scarier.

I found the Silent Hill series more monotonous than anything.

Well you're right about the cave. I was reading the notes and listening to the emergency radio signal on the way to the camp and it was talking about creatures in the caves. On top of that you can't see as you first enter. I was definitely expecting something much more dangerous, which is what was creeping me out the most. Once I discovered what the creatures were though it was just another cave to me.

Oh and yes, I explored the Dunwich Building multiple times in Fallout 3 and you're right. It was extremely creepy every time. There was something supernatural going on in there. As for Vault 34, I was more worried than frightened. The only thing that tends to frighten me is not knowing what to expect around the next corner, which is why the Dunwich Building and the parts leading up to my discovery of what was in the Camp Guardian Caves creeped me out so much.

Edit: I also play with a Turtle Beach headset so that kinda adds to it. Hearing noises all around but not seeing what it is.

As far as creepy goes, nothing I've seen in the Fallout series even comes close to Dead Space. Whenever I play that one, I have to do it by myself, as everyone else refuses to watch it and leaves the room.

I don't remember which Vault it was, but in FO3 there was that one vault where you would randomly hallucinate... ya know?

THAT place freaked me the hell out the first time, lol.

EDIT: FO3's vaults had a lot more flavor that FO:NV's vaults, IMO, I love exploring vaults and trying to figure out "WTF wacky experiment went horribly wrong here!?". :fallout:

I know which one you mean... It was Vault 106. You hallucinate from the pyschoactive drugs that were pumped into the vault. So far though, I've liked the vaults you explore in Fallout: New Vegas because they have stories behind them like before.

Spoiler
Vault 34 was the Boomer vault I think and Vault 22 was the one where the people were killed by spores released from their plant experiments.

Vault 34: I liked, it was creepy and fun.

Vault 22: I liked at first, but got bored towards the end of it.

EDIT: My favorite vault so far though was the one where you had to sit in the VR pod and go into Dr. Braun's(?) little black and white utopia, that was awesome!

To me the creepiest places in FONV are the vaults.

Vault 34 is scary because of all the ambushes.

Vault 11 is deeply creepy in a storyline way.

Yeah I have no idea what the hell that is about. It isn't creepy as much as it just makes me think that a Fiend is going to jump out of nowhere and try to stab me in the brain with a 9 iron.
