Shooting Through Cover

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 12:41 am

So, I was rewatching the Fallout E3 trailer for the fortieth time, and I saw something interesting. When the Sole Survivor is all armored up and laying waste with the minigun, he guns down a group of Raiders on the front porch of a wooden building. One of them is inside. As the SS blazes away, the group of enemies is obscured by a cloud of smoke and sawdust. Now, I could be wrong, but for a brief moment all the minigun rouds were hitting a wooden post, but the raiders still seemed to take damage! Could Bethesda have implemented a "soft cover" system, a la Call of Duty?

That would be cool but as tight-lipped as Bethesda is being I feel like thats something they would have mentioned already if it was in

The things about bullet hoses is that they aren't about precision, but volume. It could have been bullets that did not hit the post were hitting the raiders.

What might be cool other than (or in addition to) soft cover would be ricochets. You could potentially hit targets hiding behind over if you aimed your shots right but for less damage. Honestly though I wouldn't expect it

Wasn't it already mentioned/shown that there is a small amount of destructable environment this time? I'd think a porch would go into that

Could be pretty cool, considering an Anti-Material Rifle should go through 200 hundred year old wooden wall.

The bit in the combat trailer where they show grenades being thrown, it looks like the explosion knocks some bits off the building....

I've gotta watch stuff again cuz I could have sworn Todd said something about bringing down pieces of building on enimies. Even going as far as saying it wouldn't be whole buildings but pieces.

I could have have made all of that up.

I think bullets penetrating certain walls and other types of cover could be interesting. Especially for fighting things like death claws. I could just play ring-around-the-Rosie and shoot it through a thin wall if there's one nearby. Plus it might make it interesting if you have low health and go to take cover to use a stim-pack only to get shot anyways and die. Haha

Would be cool. It's fun in Mass Effect 3 to snipe enemies trough cover with infrared scoped sniper rifle. You can run, but you can't hide
