Shop Keepers

Post » Tue Sep 15, 2009 7:27 am

It's kinda embarrassing, but after being away from TESCS for so long, it seems I forgot just everything. Guess that's what I get for being on the concept teams for so long. Now, I know making a shopkeeper is really basic. I remember reading tutorial after tutorial about it awhile back, but now it seems I can't seem to pull up the data. I even tried searching "vendor" but came up with nothing.

If someone could point me to a bunch of good tutorials, especially about vendors, I would be grateful. Been trying to modify a mod for personal use, but totally got lost. :P

A couple of things I'd add to the tutorial link

Always deselect the Auto Calculate Stats box for your NPC - otherwise you can't add the services in the AI Services Tab

If you have a clothier it is worth having a look at how Milie Hastien is set up in Balmora - she wears a good section of her inventory - this is in case you rob her shop blind but still want the realism of being able to buy from her - and because she is designed to wear exquisite clothes in the vanilla game she wouldn't equip anything other than what she is currently wearing as she is wearing the most costly clothes in the game.

Personally I find it annoying when merchants suddenly equip a skirt or robe you just sold them when their previous clothing was just fine.

Always check if you want the item sold once only or multiple times - if multiple times use a negative number eg - 5 that way the player will see 5 of those items in the inventory and if they buy them all the next time they go the shopkeeper there will be 5 more available.

But the MWCP gets rid of that problem. ;)
