Is that a Excuse for no innovation?

There's plenty of innovattion in this game, and it isn't the games fault that some are just purposefully ignoring all the good.

You talked about Quests, where are the "new" Innovations there? The Settlement-System is a good new Innovation but whats left? For the most People its already an Innovation because Bethesda made a new Game, and thats all, and also sad.

It took me some time to get used to this as well, it would hack me off that Hangman's Alley or wherever couldn't defend themselves, considering I'd installed 5 or 6 stinking turrets there and armed all the settlers with the previous attackers' weapons. But I've got to where I'll just shrug, finish what I'm doing, then fast travel to the settlement, fight, and fast travel back to the nearest landmark, so I can continue exploring.

It's when the notice comes when I'm in the middle of doing a quest final objective or some such that I'll actually yell at the TV, "Come on! Just defend yourselves for one hour, will ya?"

I actually feel as though you could walk to the area that's in trouble and still make it in time, Fast Travel doesn't give you super speed or anything, it just enables you to cut to "later that day" as they would say in a screenplay. I had one defense objective fail over 24 hours in game time after I was notified about it (and couldn't go because I had a quest of my own that required me to be in DC the very next night), so I think travel time is taken into account.

My question would be ... Now long are the quests in comparison to each other?

Yes, Skyrim has lots more friendly areas.

Regarding NPC Fallout 4 has followers, father, Maxson and perhaps Kellog, nobody else has much depth.

The Dungeons in Skyrim were in thre most Case bigger than in FO4. All Dwemer Ruins are huge even some of the Draugr Ruins took much Time to pass. Fallout 4 has less big Dungeons. The Institute is so far the biggest Interior Cell i know but even a bit smal compared to Alftland/Blackreach, but that is the biggest Example of Skyrim. There are atleast 3 or 4 more of that Size. And Fallout? Mass Fusion, Gunners Plaza or Fort Hagen but those are not even close to some Skyrim Dungeons.

Yes the game was released in a barebones state but they really outdone themselves this time around with the map.I have never feel like this about exploration since Morrowind. ;)

From my experience with the game so far (I'm only about 80 hours in and not too far along the MQ) it feels like settlement building has 'replaced' questing a little. There seems to be fewer dev made hubs/towns in this game, which is where the majority of quests are initiated, because we're able to build our own towns instead, and they're filled with generic settlers who don't do anything.

Its like a Gen 1 Synth Farm. No really Personalities, or special Quests, not even Childs running arround to make the Settlement more authentic.
