-=My Short Stories=-

Post » Fri Jan 07, 2011 9:58 pm

This is a topic where I will post my Short Stories whenever I feel I would like to. Just so I don't spam 20-30 different topics for 20-30 stories that will only have one short part. Will take certain requests, depends if I would feel like it, or if I felt interested in the topic.

I would like to make the first short story to be a request, just so I don't have to do as much thinking.

From the viewpoint of a mutant, or a viewpoint of an NCR soldier that's like creeped out by them?

Or like a story about the mutants IN GENERAL in the NCR?

Please be a bit more specific.

About one of the super mutants, and how he overcomes prejudice and discrimination to become a hero.

My God, that sounds like a Disney movie... >_<

Sorry, but..uh...don't feel like doing a request anymore...
:P Sorry.

I kinda thought up a story during my English class. There's something inspiring about those Archtypes...
Anyway, hope no one cares what I name the Lone Wanderer...kinda a lame name I chose.

I don't have a name for the story, so just "bear" with me...lol.

Part 1- Unexpected Surprise

Orpheus walked through the streets of Arlington, the night was dark, but luckily some of the street lights still worked. The Brotherhood of Steel headquarters shone bright enough to light up the entire Patomac, yet it was still dark. And silent too. As the Lone Wanderer, he knew things like this all too well. First, a quiet scurry in an alleyway. Second, the loading of a gun. And third, Orpheus ducked just as a bullet whizzed past his head by almost half a centimetre. Looking back towards a ruined building across from the library, he saw a raider with a sniper rifle rested on the windowsill of the building. "Just as usual." he muttered to himself. He pulled out his trusty 10mm pistol, his first firearm. It brought back so many memories, some that should have been forgotten. "No time for that now." Two raiders emerged from the rough doorway and pulled up assault rifles to their chests. Too slow for him, he kicked the rifle out of one's hand into the air, and shot the other in the face. The looks of horror on their faces made them no better people. He caught the assault rifle as it fell and shot the remaining in the face. Orpheus quickly sliced off one finger off each body. "Senora isn't going to be surprised, this always happens." continuing on, the wanderer took an expertly placed shot towards the sharp-shooter. The shot was well-aimed and hit true to its target, the dead center of the man's forehead.

He ran up the stairs and disposed of two more raiders with ease using a combat knife. They coud never hope to be a match for him. Orpheus reached the top of the flight of stairs and saw a gaurd sleeping. "Poor thing." Taking his combat knife, he swiftly cut the throat of the unfortunate victim, plunging the raider into an endless sleep. The room where the sniper usually hid was just ahead. As usual. But something wasn't right. He heard sobbing. Walking deeper into the room, he looked in the corner. There was a young woman, who looked the same age as himslelf. She was crying softly, but it could very well be a trap.

Part 2- Looked Down On

Orpheus walked closer. He couldn't help but feel pity for the poor soul. She was wearing clothing that would classify her as a raider, but she didn't seem like that sort of person. Orpheus reached the woman and she looked up at him, tears clouded her brilliant blue eyes, and her black hair was loose and straight, which was strange in the wasteland. She continued to sob, even as he stood there. He leveled his gun to her head and she got even louder. For the first time in his life, he couldn't shoot. All those years he grew up in the wasteland, he had always taken a perfectly stunning shot, but not this time. Something was holding him back. Perhaps she wasn't a raider. He tossed the gun away into the dark corner of the room, and gave his hand out to her. she looked back up and saw his gesture. She appeared confused, yet glad. She took Orpheus' hand and he pulled her up to her feet. Dim light began to flood in as the sun crept over the sandy hills of Washington and the Wanderer knew that he should hurry. The woman collapsed, strangely, he hadn't noticed until he heard the thud of her body hitting the floor. "Great.." Orpheus picked up his 10mm pistol and holstered it, then he lifted the young woman and headed back outside. The sun was rising faster, and Orpheus could see several figures on the horizon, along with a Vertibird coming in from the sky. The Lone Wanderer broke into a sprint, he ran faster and fatser until he could barely make out his legs, until his leg hit a concrete block and he fell.

Orpheus woke up to the bright lights of the Citadel, over the last few years, using the scavenged Enclave tech, the Brotherhood had managed to completely restor the Citadel to its former glory, and added some more fortifications. Sarah Lyons was standing above him. She didn't look happy. "Oh right...we used to be...right." Orpheus was at a loss for words, he hadn't spokent to Sarah since a year after the events at Adams Air Force Base. Akward...

Not bad, not bad. I would prefer more detail, less uber than "Shot him in the face", but I suppose your not much for writing combat. I'll keep R&R'ing if you keep writing.

Part 3- Getting to know you

Orpheus stared at the ground while Sarah lectured him. "Why haven't you come to see me? I thought we had something together! Even if you don't think that, we're still friends!"

"Sarah, it's not that I don't like you, it's just...akward...I mean, you're the leader of an elite team of Brotherhood soldiers, and I'm a traveller, it just wouldn't work."

"Whatever." Sarah left the room, so he looked around. The young lady was laying on the bed next to him, she didn't have any injuries except for a few scraqes here and there, but in the wasteland, they were nothing. She was still unconscious. Orpheus remembered his reason for returning to the Citadel. A year ago, Orpheus had decided to fix a car that he had found mostly intact, back in Springvale. He spent a half a year working on it, but it had finally worked. Orpheus picked her up and headed to the courtyard, and there it was, sitting in the sun with its glorious and sleek black paint job. He placed her in the back seat and started the car. He had installed suspension to prevent the car from getting unnecessary damage.

An hour later...

Orpheus parked the car in his garage, which was attached to his house. Pulling the young woman out of the back, he noticed she began to open her eyes. He went inside and placed her on the couch. "Who are you?!" She almost jumped. "And where...am I?"

"Calm down, you're in my house in Megaton, you're safe now."

"Who are you?" She was more calm now, seeing he had no intentions of harming her.

"I'm the Lone Wanderer, Orpheus. I'm sure you've heard of me!" She shook her head.

"Huh...this is akward...haven't met anyone who didn't know me. Have you heard about Project Purity? Or the Brotherhood of Steel?" again, the young woman shook her head.

"The Enclave?"

"No..."

"Do you know who YOU are?" she shook her head.

"I can't remember anything, but I got taken in by strange people. They said to go with them, so they could use me. I didn't know what to do, so I went."

"Oh god..." Orpheus remembered stories of people being [censored] by raiders, she was lucky that he had come along.

Years passed, and slowly, Orpheus and the young woman (who chose the name "Rhea" for herself) develped a relationship, and had a child.
They named their son, Jacen.
