We should be able to CHOOSE our Pre-Order bonus.

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:50 pm

I Pre-Ordered from EB Games ( owned by Gamestop so I get the Doom pack ) and quite frankly, I'm not that big a fan of Doom. Yeah the games were fun when you're locked in a dark room, But that point aside, I'd rather get to choose which pre-order pack i get when i enter the download code into the Live Store, Rather then it telling me my only option is the Doom one. I'd prefer to choose Fallout, Or CoD. Games I actually own and enjoy playing. In the words of another members post 'I'm not an avid fan of doom, I just wouldn't feel right flying those colors.' I too, Have that opinion.

Then buy it from somewhere else, not EB games?

You should have thought before you bought. No sympathy here.

I pre ordered the special edition from game so i get the doom and spec ops pack. I've never even played doom and while it's better than nothing, like you, i would prefer the fallout pack, since i have played a few of fallout game and quite liked them. The special edition seems the most logical choice to me though since i get my favourite pack (spec ops) and a bonus one, so im not really bothered

I pre-ordered mine from walmart just because of the pre-order pack, even though walmart is the devil.

It's the only location within a reasonable distance.

Agreed in full. Frankly the whole varied preorder bonus thing is a novel idea, but I think it could have been implemented a whole lot better. Even the bonuses themselves seem to be "out of balance," if you will, with some offering actual exclusive weapons and others just arbitrary clothing options. I have little doubt the other packs will be released as dlc, though overall that's not a very strong consolation.

Courier post doesn't tend to be too expensive, some other shops have online stores and/or offer shipping.

I'm only 17. I don't have a credit card to do online purchases and I don't feel like asking a friend to do it for me because I hate to impose on people when i don't need to. Besides, I'm applying at EB Games, I think it would look better if I hand in an application/resume and then ask if my pre-ordered game is in. Gives the image that i actually have a good opinion on the store and I'm not just another student looking for a job solely to pay off fee's. But back on topic, I still say that if I'm pre-ordering a game i should be given the courtesy to be able to choose which of the 4 bonuses I'd like to have.

A pre-order bonus serial key should be included (to actually activate the pack). Do not use that serial, and trade that for a serial key of one of the other pre-order packs (fallout or psycho). The Spec-Ops pack is steam-only though, and does not have an activation serial.

I thought we weren't allowed to 'Trade' serials. As it defeats the purpose.

I had the same problem as you but being eighteen with a debit card I threw my money down at Amazon cause the Psycho tattoos look intense, you could ask your parents to do it if you didn't want the Doom pack that badly? The svcky thing is that here Gamestation and GAME both get the Doom pack, you have to go online for Fallout/Psycho, so it would have been nice to see one with one pack one with the other (I know GAME owns GS but to lots of people they're different franchises).

Well now that is a very viable reason, and I thank you for not biting my head off.

Though there's always the parent alternative if you don't have a CC? What I always used to do, just give them the cash and they buy it online.

Brink fans will still buy the game regardless of where they get it, Why make certain packs only available at certain locations? If anything that's just causing the consumer an inconvenience that's easily avoided. That being said, It's not like it's a big enough issue to ask my parents to buy it for me online simply because i don't like the free BONUS I'm getting. That'd just be silly. I was just pointing out that it's pointless to restrict customers like that.

@Super Pangolin: You gave me no reason to, You simply provided an argument, And I answered as to why. No need for biting heads lol. Also, My parents don't trust online transactions anyways. =/

SpecOps is also available from Walmart in North America, and other stores worldwide. In Europe and Au, its even bundled with the doom pack at some stores.

They dont want you doing it here, as it clutters the forums, but im not aware of any reason you couldnt trade them.

Answering to this "We should be able to CHOOSE our Pre-Order bonus" :

I don't think it's that big of a deal BUT,i use Steam, for many reasons...all my games in 1 place, bonuses it offers etc. and YES,i would like to be given the choice of choose my pack,or in worst case between 2 packs and not buying it from anotherseller.

That's just the way things work, different retailers get different things. I guess I'm pretty lucky, I get both the Spec Ops and Doom pack.

Sorry, but it sounds like what's keeping you from choosing your pre-order pack is a personal problem. Just because you can't drive somewhere or don't have a credit card to order online doesn't mean all retailers should have to give up the exclusivity of their pre-orders.

I thought that even the exclusive weapons had the same exact stats as the "other" weapon of its type. no?

This has been confirmed, they are just re-models of existing weapons

the purpose of different pre-order incentives is to get you to buy that game through that company. it defeats the whole purpose if everyone has the same exclusives. take a step back and look @ it from a business prospective. I pre-ordered from Gamestop as well, and like you I never got into Doom so it doesn't really excite me either. Sometimes Gamestop has better pre-order incentives, sometimes they don't.

Honestly, with the vast customization BRINK has for your characters, i doubt im even going to use anything from the Doom pack neways.

not all are re-skined weapons. The Psycho pack from Amazon and the Spec ops pack from Walmart give you exclusive guns.

Frankly I'm sick and tired of games offering store-specific bonuses. Especially if those bonuses add real content to the game rather than just graphical fluff. At least this is just fluff, but still, it's annoying. If a game company is going to offer store-specific bonuses I wish they'd offer all bonuses with their collector's editions since you pay so much more for those anyway, or some other option to obtain all the bonuses.

not all are re-skined weapons. The Psycho pack from Amazon and the Spec ops pack from Walmart give you exclusive guns.

Well that's just BS.
