Should we be able to have a wife and children of our own?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 2:53 am

just thinking they have all these insane new features, and was wondering if you think it's a good idea to be able to have a child of your own, and have him/her follow in your footsteps, i think it would be kinda cool.(im not some insane nerd or anything i have a fiance and a daughter, i was just putting it out there)

Now, I love Fable (1 and 2... not 3), but even I'm going to say no - it's not Fable

Even if we could I wouldn't. Nothing's tying this tiger down, baby :disguise:

Edit: GkrewZ - if done right you say? Ah, how enlightening. I can really see how they might implement families now.

I don't like the idea purely because it doesn't make sense to me. Why would you want a family if you're off adventuring and saving the world? Wouldn't outrage me if it was in there though.

No thank you. It's really hard to feel anything for your wife and kid in a video game and without that there's no point in having them. Besides, if you actually would get feelings for them, they would most likely become a burden and a limitation to your gameplay. In my eyes: they add nothing of either importance or interest to the game.

I don't really care, I won't be raising my son while I could be out hacking off heads of dragons :)

Nah. Never seen a good relationship system implemented, but I've seen enough bad ones that I'm rather weary of testing the repeated attempts to get it right. I'll gladly pass, thanks all the same.

If it was done right, yes... if not, no.

Honestly, I don't think Bethesda should bother implementing it... there are other features I'd rather see them implement.

There was a mod like this (believe it originated in germany) for Morrowind where you could actually date, marry, and have a kid with any NPC in the game as long as they weren't hostile and were the opposite gender. If you were the man you could get your wife pregnant and if you were a female you could have the kid yourself. It was pretty entertaining, but it was way to simplified. You could talk your way into anyone's pants just by going up to them and hitting on them once a day.

i loath fable 3 1and 2 were cool, but i don't mean like fable, i mean like growing up to advlt, and partake in whatever class or profession you do, say good or evil, so you have a right hand man kind of thing

Definitely no, because I'm sure if they had to do it, the devs would make your wife constantly nag you like AnnoyingAdoring Fan.

Don't see them doing that. In anything they do, they're more in the "put the basic and let you build your character story". A spouse and kids seems too forced, that's not their way.

And I prefer it stays that way. I'm not confident that any connection that's more than hinted (like it was with Ahnassi or Uncle Crassius hitting on you in Morrowind) will be subtly handled.

I would much prefer the ability to take a young lad under my wing. Take him out adventuring with me. He would be a weaker companion, but it would feel just as rewarding as leveling up to see him progress by your teaching.

No I don't think it'd be very cool to have a child in my opinion....I do hope they actually put children IN the game though. It was kinda creepy that entire towns had no children.

Something as optional as buying houses, yes. Not related to the story in any way, yes. I like to have someone waiting for me in that huge empty house in Cheydinhall. With hot soup, that is. And funny stories. And lots of rumors and useful info on what happened in the city while I was gone.
