Should we be able to play a Kid Character ?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 8:58 pm

No i am not trolling just wondering what peoples will think about it

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH, sorry for the misunderstanding, but when you answered "no" to my last question I wasn't sure whether I was supposed to read that like "No, I'm not being serious" or "No, your post is wrong", and now I understand it was the latter. I apologize for suggesting that you might be a troll. Also, I did technically answer your (dwarf) question.

Playing as a kid... hmm, let me remember: were they enjoyable or annoying in Fallout 3? Nooooooooo!

[censored] NO!!!

Opinion: there shouldn't even be kids in the game anyway. Why? Can't kill 'em. Everybody always yells about immersion this and immersion that. You know what breaks immersion? Characters that can't be killed when you hit them with a really big, really enchanted claymore.

Leave the kids out of the game entirely, says I.

What an absurd idea.

The only way this would work is if you play some intro/tutorial levels as a child (like Fall Out 3). Playing through the whole game as a kid would be ridiculous, not to mention unethical. You wouldn't want to option of playing as a child in a shooter would you? How is it any different for this game?

I totally agree, but I guess it's too late for that, once this step has been made, I guess kids are in for good, like voice acted dialogue there's no turning back or people will cry "where are the kids, bring our immersion back".

I can see it now, Dovahkiin, Dragonborn, the one the dragons fear and who is fated to save the world from Alduin... and it turns out that the hero is some child... yes, that sounds pretty unlikely. I'd say that since we know children are in the game, they should stay as NPCs, being an Elder Scrolls protagonist should stay the job of advlts.

Besides, the game must include the possibility for the player to die, or there enemies pose no threat, and the game will not be challenging, and if the protagonist were a child... well, we know Bethesda's stance on THAT issue.

Considering that the start of the game as usual will start in a prison, no. More so this time around it sounds like it's going further, you're up for execution. so a definite no.

I can imagine a kid channeling his childish hating into a dragon shout :swear: .
The thought alone is enough for my vote 'why am I even here?' :pinch:

I wouldn't mind starting of as a kid to set he basis for your past, like Fallout.

But for the whole game. No.

At the beginning of the game you're supposedly saved by Esbern of the Blades from being executed.

I really don't see why you would want to be a child in this game, to be perfectly honest. So, I am going to say a long, drawn-out "no". :shakehead:

So since there is gonna be Kids in the game should we be able to play as a kid ?
I know you will not be able to play a kid Character
Not that i want to be able to play as an kid !!!!!

No, I don't want the ability to play as a kid. That whole "No child killing" thing would make your character immortal, invincible, and invulnerable and then what would even be the point of playing?

No. Even though I enjoyed playing as one using that (playable)kids in Morrowind mod, whom I RPed as a thief struggling to survive. So sure, as a mod it would be interesting. As a vanilla option though, to have a dragonslaying child running about to save the world? No. I dislike the whole "only you can save [insert person, place, planet, etc]" story cliche enough as is without adding in the destined hero being a child. Its why I dislike the non-advlt Link Zelda games. I just find it so absurd and immersion breaking to think of a kid successfully slaying demons and monsters better than any advlt in the game world, who spent their lives training with weapons rather than five minutes with a wooden sword. >.<
