should arrows have weight?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 8:35 pm

a simple yes or no question.

Should arrows have weight?

I just feel that it is very unrealistic that my characters can carry around 1000 arrows and not be encumbered them at all...

also do you thind that arrows should have different weights depending on what metal is used to create them? (I.E. should iron arrows be heavier than dwarven or elven arrows)

Really? I am always struggling to find arrows... maybe it is because I never buy any.

Normally ya... But with the weight you can carry being at a premium, then I would have to say no.

Logically, yes. They should.

For game mechanics and the sheer amount that you carry around, I vote no.

Yes, but they've have to be pretty light. I'd venture no heavier then .01. That way its ten to a pound which is pretty fair.

Yes. Maybe .05 per arrow or something. But yes, they should weigh something.

This.

I can understand why you would want it but carry weight is scarce as it is. I've already got rid of it by giving myself 20k weight via console. Tedious going back and forth to town when I could be out there exploring and looting everything I see.

Sure they should. mind you it shouldb e a very low weight.
They should also have value.
I'm not really using any for anything other than dragons, so i have a grip that are figurateively worthless.

No for the simple fact my char is mainly archer heavy and I don't want to be carrying around half my carrying weight or more just so I can actually be combat effective.

Weight and value for all arrows.

Edit: Oh boy, looks like the majority are casuals.

3: Only in a "hardcoe" mode.

If arrow had weight, it would be nearly impossible to carry even half the treasure chest loot out of any dungeon in the game.

Again, why add weight if you can blacksmith but not fletch. It seems like "attention to detail" is a bit missed if you do one without the other.

yes i agree with most of the points brought up in this thread they should have weight (i think it should verry on arrow type from 0.01-0.05) and they deffinately should have some sort of value even if they are only worth one gold it would make a huge improvement in my opinion... i guess i liked FO:NVs hardcoe mode to much

I would cry even if they added .1 weight to arrows .... Cripples stealth/thief play style if that was the case.

Obviously arrows weigh something, but I like having a variety of arrows without being punished. Something that I hated in oblivion.

But .... There's always a mod for weight if that's what u want :)

Sure, as long as sword scabbards should weigh too as well as oil to keep your leather bits leathery and grindstones to keep your weapons sharp that gradually wear away as you adventure. It's already bad enough that food and potions and ingredients weigh so much lets keep the little wins such as arrows being weightless. Next I guess you'll be asking for gold to have weight too? :) It is an inventory item after all.

According to this website, http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_much_does_an_average_arrow_weigh, which Google Calculator says converts to http://www.google.com/search?q=400+grains+in+pounds&btnG=Search

So then maybe they should weigh a twentieth of a pound. Ten pounds for two hundred arrows certainly seems reasonable enough.

As for the request for fletching, can't smithing be used to make arrows?

Encumbrance in this game isn't realistic at all, so I don't see a reason to impose additional penalties on the archer class.

I vote no just because of how many arrows I go through in just one dungeon. Sure they're pretty abundant. But there have been points where I was really running low on arrows and needed more, but hadn't been able to find anymore archers to kill for some. I laughed at the fact that someone brought logic into the matter. This is an Elder Scrolls game. Nothing is logical... Well, some aspects are but it's a freaking game filled with magic and fantasy. I don't see the big deal with arrows having no weight. I like it the way it is.

so what your saying is that my warrior should be punished for carrying around 2 two-handed weapons but an archer shouldn't be encumbered 20 indiscriminate weight units for carrying around 200 arrows...

the real issue in my opinion is game balance the archer should have some sort of drawback to playing as one....

and dont get me started on how the games exuberance is unrealistic no kidding lets see someone carry around 5 sets of iron armour i seriously doubt most people could do that in real life...

o yeah and trolls add something useful to the thread or GTFO after you vote
