Yeah. Why hasnt this thread gotten locked yet? This is obviously something that isn't gonna happen.
Don't be too sure. They didn't let you play a beast race in Battlespire, and they had planned (dev quotes) not to include beast races in Morrowind as playable options.

Not making beast races playable isn't the same thing as not including them at all, or replacing them with Krogan.

I was answering the question the origanol poster asked: "Should beast races be replaced by something original and less silly?"

My answer was: no, Bethesda will not just "replace them with something else."

I think that my answer was quite logical.

Bethesda might kill them off somehow but that would upset the majority of their fan base. Plus, this is not replacing them. It is killing them off and adding new lore about it.

ex. Titus Mede might be a huge racist and have all of the beasts executed.

Eh, unless Titus SOMEHOW stabilizes Cyrodiil, he'd sooner go after areas easier for picking to have a more outstanding army. Black Marsh was avoided even by Tiber Septim, opting to just say "would you like to join my empire?" Disease is really an extremely powerful deterrent. Plus, his dialog with Attrebus shows he really doesn't care about Black Marsh. Plus, the elves are a bigger threat than beastfolk. The khajiit are nothing but wanderers or living in cities as drug addicts, and the argonians are just staying in their lands and the probably disputed lands in ex-Dres held territory.

Plus, Attrebus seems to care about those in other lands, so I doubt there will be genocide against beast-folk.

Because we all know Humans, Wood Elves, Dark Elves, High Elves, Bretons, Nords, Orcs are the most orginal races ever amirite?

Argonians are the best anyways.

Exactly. If you're going to complain that a race is too unoriginal, you'd think you'd not target the most original playable races in TES.

Makes sense. They do feel sort of tacked on with their missing equipment slots.

I always thought the various bad things towards the beast races made them feel all the more awesome.

I wish they could be more bestial, though. As if you could feel that they can rip you apart with they fangs and claws, they just don't because they are civilized and pacific.

One thing I really like about the TES series is the lack of "http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AlwaysChaoticEvil" races (well, maybe the Dremora, but I feel they are more Lawful Evil) as even the Orcs are civilized, though still a bit brutish.

The lack of silly Black/White dichotomy is a very cool aspect of the series.

I don't know if I posted this earlier in this thread, but I may have said something to the effect of "Bethesda needs to add more beast races, like the Sload."

I then saw what a Sload looks like; they should not be in any game ever.

Now, I think if anything, a game in Elsweyr or Black Marsh would be pretty cool, what with all of the different types of Khajiiti and Argonians there are. There should be more variants on the existing beast races before adding any more.

I personally think that having a TES game in one of those two ex-provinces would be cool, like how the majority of the population in Morrowind seemed to be Dunmer.

Speaking of races in general I feel like creature and enemy species are a bit lacking. I don't know if low enemy types are a common trait in the series, I have only started the DF dungeon. But the mundane critters of MW (however unique) or OB (however fantastic) are low in retrospect, and from what I have heard of DF.

I think we need more than a few new (unplayable) species to pop out of caves, oceans, forests, or migrate from other lands.

from the pocket dictionary the ohms race or man faced race is supposed to be the khajit you see most of outside of elswer. there is also an ohms mod race that looks just like the thundercats and musical cats. i can no longer take that race seriously anymore. between this and their home being called "elswer" and it being a desert........giant litterbox anyone. they are now just a giant ingame joke to me. :(

What you want modders to be perfect? And no they don't look like the thunder cats , from arena they look like a basic human with slight differences. And getting rid of the beast races would take a big excuse from Betehsda , removal of Akavri and possibly the Sload. And you calling it cliche? What about those elfs there?

Meh, some of their fans can be furries but most just like the animals, felines and reptiles are among the most powerful archetypes out there, or roleplaying the "other", the alien.

Gasp, liking to Roleplay in a "Role Playing Game", how can they dare? :rolleyes:

Oh yes , a role play game without roleplaying would be be.. well how could TES work then? :P

Well, Daggerfall did a better job in that department, in that they looked human (even the ears), and had bare necks, faces, hands, and feet, but had a light coat of fur everywhere else, and a tail. They also tattooed their faces to appear more feline.

The ones in Arena were pretty much agile and tattooed humans.

Yeah, the thing is this thread mostly seems a way for reallybigjohnson to complain about races he doesn't like by framing it as an actual discussion. Of course, the thread title puts in the qualifier that having tree-lizard people who have a hive mind and live in the swamps and elf-cats who are born on a sliding scale of human-to-feline based on the phases of two moons are unoriginal when really that sounds pretty fresh to me. I mean, it's okay if he thinks they're silly. But one person not buying a particular facet of the story doesn't mean four games and a novel's worth of lore needs to be completely retconned out and replaced with something out of the blue.

Remember how crazy it was when they added Imperials after two games? Imagine that only worse because they'd be removing two established races and adding new ones after four. Bad idea.

The thing is, Imperials made sense. There was a whole province no one hailed from. Removing the beast races is just a dumb idea.

I agree that it made sense, I'm just saying that people found it strange that Imperials just appeared. These guys have been around longer than Imperials, so removing them would be even more jarring.

Khajiits should go back to how they were in daggerfall.
EDIT-or there should be an option for them,one more "race" shouldn't be too hard.

The only other beast race I could foresee them adding is the Tsaesci (snake people) as they have been in Cyrodiil before, and are probably losing the war against the tigers. Within the 200 years after OB, refugee Tsaesci from Akavir could make their way to Tamriel, due to being kicked in the teeth by the tigers.
