AI should beg for mercy

Post » Mon Aug 09, 2010 3:14 pm

When they challenge you or you attack him/her, the AI should beg you for mercy when you outclass the enemy. You then have the option to spare or execute. However, not everyone has to surrender, some might not give up and just die.

This'd be cool. Make a good chance for interrogation opportunities.

Would be cool if they just surrender and then if you have duel swords, you do what Anakin did in starwars to that old guy. Chopped his head off.

Edit: it was count dooku.

Npc's need to run more if out classed as well as begging for there life. Beth's goal has always been to create a another world you can play in, make that world as believable as possible. This kind of things flow right into that.

Well I dont see why human NPC's would know that they're out classed until they've been wounded, because I dont think skill levels exist in-game. And I don't think a bandit would run just because they had inferior armor or weapons.

Yeah, it really pissed me off at Kvatch when I took those band of soldiers in, and they run at the Daedra first thing instead of running away or holding back so I can take care of them with my Finger of the Mountain. I've even had to invent an invisibility/shield/charm spell for when I'm taking my mage apprentice with me on missions so he/she doesn't get himself/herself killed. It's really unrealistic, and I hope it's something they change for Skyrim.

Dude, I think even the most foolhardy of humans should know that when they come face-to-face with a Markynaz, it's kinda time to leave. Or find help from the Archmage.

Out classed is past tense, so of course they would not know they have been out classed if nothing has happened yet. Its implied that a fight has occurred and they have not fared well when you say outclassed.

By all means, beg for mercy, but if I have to chase you, you will suffer. :flamethrower:

As long as it doesn't disturb the flow of the game, it's alright in my book.

Wait, soldiers charging at the enemy they were sent to fight instead of running away is unrealistic?

My enemies won't be running or begging for mercy, lol, they'll be dead before they know they're in trouble.

Running from the guards though, that makes sense.

My enemies would have murdered each other till there's only a few wounded and isolated guys left, who then get stabbed in the neck.

They already do that.

When they run away they tend to say "spare me", "this is hopeless" and others...

Don't really care myself.

My enemies will never even know I'm there.

this could be triggered by a combination of the disparity between the player's level and the enemy's level, and a percentage of success based on how much hp the enemy has left.

this way only enemies reasonably weaker than you or gravely injured would beg for their lives.

I think that the NPC's should definitely beg for mercy when you best them.

It would very much make it seem more realistic...

...

and I would get to feel like a naughty vampire God right before I relieve them of the necessity of breathing.

It'd be damn cool. lol

along with that stuff i think they should try to dodge blows....if you have ever seen a pack of dogs trying to fight something...say a mountain lion....they dodge around and jump back when it comes towards them. It doesnt run straight up and just stand there to let the thing kill it

Bandits tend to be smarter than just try to talk the big guy who just killed all of their friends and colleagues out of killing them, they just rather run for it.
