They. Have. Said. Nothing. About. Removing. Attributes.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

:ahhh:  :banghead:

Why? Why do you all insist on something that has no concrete evidence of being true? Why are all your prognostications pessimistic by default? Please tell me, I'd like to know.

This... However I asked Nick for a confirmation of this speculation. He did not reply.

But I think there is a great possibility of attributes. Why, that skill menu isn't everything. Where is for instance the menu with the list of perks you acquires. There should be on, and the Skill menu would be the only that could display it, equipement won't, Magic won't nor will Map, which are the 4 submenus that display character info.

I hope so, Wahoo... I hope so, for this would be a dark time for Nirn... It's becoming Fable-ized (although I do love Fable, I love TES because it's an RPG, nto an action one)...

Actually, MW and OB are both action-RPGs... Even Diablo officially is.

What's he going to say?

"Yeah...we removed Attributes because we thought it would be simpler."

What people are saying here is too conflicting to officially vote. If they are gone, we'll have to see and be open minded! If they're still here, I'm fine with it.

Why should people be open minded with removal, if nothing is given in return?

Based on the arguments in this thread I′d say attributes are most likely gone (excluding the derived attributes health, magicka, stamina (fatigue)). I can live without them, if the new system works the way Bethesda intends it to work and they came to the conclusion that attributes aren′t needed, we should give them the chance to prove that attributes indeed are redundant in Skyrim. It could very well be that just the skills govern how good you are at something (plus some perks). The amount you can carry could be tied to Stamina. I don′t see the big problem here. The attributes lose their sense if you can′t raise them at level-up, nobody would care about them. So why not get rid of them at all?

I'll raise my hand here and say: It'd depend on implementation.

I don't mind the change. I kind of feel like the way the attribute system worked before is basically how it works now, just without the choice. If you're going to focus on Strength, you're going to put more points into. If you're going to focus on swords, your going to focus on strength. It just removes an unnecessary step. I also think it seems more immersive, because it changes attributes from just points distributed at the end of a level into something you have to train. If you think about it, you get more agile by training in it, not "Oh hey, you just completed this marathon and leveled up. Did you get stronger, smarter, or faster?" Also, yeah yeah realism in my video games, ect.

I am going to go with a ridiculous number of people do.

I have 30 different shades of blue to choose from when picking eye color, it is really complex. They are dumbing the game down when they reduce it to 20.

Indeed.

All of the skills, because they include numbers, should be boiled down into perks that you get throughout the game.
Health again would be a perk.

Numbers have to be abolished.

I didn't say either way. Now you have not only subscribed to the irrational premise of "Absence of evidence is evidence of absence" (right after my big bolded post too), but now you are claiming I stated something I didn't.

To all those lamenting the possible loss of attributes I ask:

What do attributes give us that cannot be replaced by skills? Attributes factor into all kinds of different calculations in the game, sure, but how much effect do they really have on game play? Speed makes you run faster, but so does athletics. Strength makes you do more damage but so do weapon skills. Personality seems to do nothing at all other than to modify its associated skills.

Why are attributes so important to the game?

For those who are shell shocked about the attributes let me ask you this, what game function did they serve? How did they enhance your experience and if you put them back in why? I don't want the well it's lack

lol, sorry Li didn't see your post hehe.

If they're gone it's way, way too late to get them back for this game.

I'm not too happy about the idea of removing attributes myself, but it could actually work well.

And lets be honest, the idea of doing artificial skill training to get +5 attribute multipliers on level up was ridiculous.

Willpower and Intelligence are rather integral to calculations of magic capacity and regeneration.

How so? According to what system?
