Should Bosmer be Asian influenced?

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 7:11 am

I did like the fact that the elves were more distinct looking in Morrowind. Altmer and Bosmer could be difficult to tell apart in Oblivion (at least the females). The fact that they all had the same voices didn't help, either. Orcs and Nords had the same voices, but at least they didn't look alike.

They were [censored], not Asian. You damn racists.
...
It is me or all elves in Oblivion looked like cloned freakshow runaways?

Heck, even Morrowind with 6 default heads could make them look more interesting.

Funny thing, that: only three heads of the 10-12 included have the solid-black-eyes thing, and only one head of the entire lot actually has the horns. For all we know that might be Rosemary's Bosmer, so why the hell're you all acting like this is some kind of race-standard trait that's heretical to exclude?

Here are two Bosmer from Morrowind:

I *believe* this is with the default textures- I played with texture replacements most of the time though. At any rate I don't see what was so "Asian" about them in their appearance. Much less their society.

R
To me, the Bosmer looked like Bosmer.

Amen. As LadyN once taught me, the Elder Scrolls races are their own races, they shouldbt be compared to real-life races, because they aren't. Bosmers are Bosmets, Khajiit are Khajiit, etc.

Nah I would go more the way of classic wood elves from other fantasy universes.

Bosmer makes me think tree loving, bow shooting people and the great moving tree-city of Falinesti.

Also Beth only had 6 months on final hardware with Oblivion so I would expect different character models for each race in Skyrim, each race should be truly unique like the beast races were in Morrowind.

No, I always saw them as Tolkien style Elf influenced not Asian.

Like wise. I took the appearance to be a limitation of the graphics at the time along with specific styling to simply make them 'elf like', not a design choice to make them 'asian'.

I really don't see an asian influence in TESIII Bosmer.

I don't think elf races are based on any real type of ethnicity, despite some coincidental physical characteristics. If anything, akaviri seems asian influenced...judging by weapons and some of the armor. A lot of woods, archery and cannabalism? Doesn't sound asian influenced.

I always thought they were cannibals. So I would suppose they should be errr, Paupa New Guineans?
