Should I buy Fallout NV now?

Post » Sun Oct 02, 2011 10:07 pm

I really want to get Fallout NV ,but people are saying that it freezes, lags and crashes a lot. Especially later in the game.
Is it really that bad? Or is it still playable? How many issues did you have during your game?

Thank you

Runs fine on PC (mostly), but I'd wait untill they re-release it with all the DLC.

Edit: Didn't notice the topic description. Dunno how it runs on PS3.

PS3 player, it does freeze a lot, but it's still a great game. I would definitely buy it.

I beat the PS3 version, it froze once at the end, so i had to beat the last Boss again, but that's about it. It's at a fair price now, I'm not sure if they're planning on making a Special edition with all the DLC.

More than worth the $20.

I got it a month or so ago now, my first playthrough was nearly flawless, only froze about 3 times in a 58hr save but it had been running for roughly 4-6hrs straight those times it did freeze (so could have just been the PS3 itself).

Freezing hasn't really been a regular occurance for me, although the most recent patch has introduced a few problems. Such as while in a fire fight with a lot of enemies your guns will "lag" and won't fire propperly, nothing that can't be played through in most circumstances though.

Realize that the ones with bugs and crashes are the low amount who own it. People who have no problem with the game don't go and tell people that they like their game because it doesn't crash.

Only people who absolutely love the games Bethesda has to offer or other things join these forums. Or as you guessed want their problems solved.

You run the risk by playing console versions. Lots of irreversible damage can happen due to bugs and glitches.

Despite all the horror stories, my experience wasn't deterred that badly. On the 360, even.

Yes, bugs and crashes happened. Probably more than other games. Just save a bunch (Which is quick) and you're gold.

Im in the same boat. My copy of Fallout 3 GOTY for the PS3 comes in tommorrow. I decided to wait to play Fallout New Vegas until I beat Fallout 3, and by that time maybe there will be a Fallout New Vegas Special Edition with all of the DLC included.

I have a feeling that if I order Fallout New Vegas now (Which I really want to), that a new edition will come out.

I wish they would say one way or the other if they have any plans for a "special edition" anytime soon.

Have you played Oblivion or Fallout 3?

Same thing. The freezes and crashes are the same calibur as those.
Why Fallout New Vegas got horribad press for the crashes when the other two didn't? No idea.
If you can, get it on the PC. The PC version has the least amount of issues and allows you to fix issues manually with quick, easy-to-do console commands. I'm also not sure if the PS3 version has a quicksave option; I'm in the habit of quicksaving every minute or so when traveling long distances to combat the crashes.

it's well worth the $20 price tag, Hell I bought mine for $60 and i still think i got a great deal.

be warned. I play on an older ps3 and my game freezes atleast once every 1-2 hours. Be careful when wandering around in Hoover Dam, and BoS bunker, those 2 spots for me just cause massive lag and freeze a ton.

Xbox, freezes rarely and I experience close to no bugs. I think some games run differently than others I dunno
But I do know that you should get it for what ever platform you play and you will enjoy it :)

I play on Xbox360, it's not as buggy as most people say, and some of the bugs are quite hilarious! GET THIS GAME RIGHT AWAY!

I've played it on 360 and PS3, and had no irreversible damage. Even if it locked up during a save, after rebooting, the save (and all previous ones) were intact.

I played it on 360 before all the patches, and aside from some quest/companion glitches, I had no problems.

I play on the 360 and people exaggerate how much it freezes up, it does at times but not as much as people say.

Yes, I'd wait until they release the game with all the DLC, I'm waiting... :sadvaultboy:
But it's a good game, just crashes every once in a while, with the latest patch too. :cryvaultboy:
I played the PS3 version at a friends place, so I can't say much, being a 360 player.

Should have made this a poll lol.

But to answer, No! Wait for the DLC edition to come out. It's hard to wait but it's so worth it. Meanwhile just bide your time and buy other good priced games until it comes out. You hear that Bethesda??? There's money in my pocket you can have if you release DLC version soon!! :fallout:
