Should I clean unique landscape

Post » Wed Oct 20, 2010 7:24 pm

Thank you for help.

I cleaned also Mannimarco revisisted, but the files cleaned is much more larger than the backup. What is it wrong? I deleted refernces, applied filtering, and removed identical to master record.
IS someone good to send me a .esp for that file cleaneD? I want to compare it :P

Nothing is wrong, or rather what you see is common. Performing "undelete and disable references" often results in increased ESP size. It's the nature of the beast.

No, they're all cleaned before release. You're welcome to have a go at it yourself, but you'd be wasting your time :)

thank you.
Question: is there a sort of safe cleaning? I'm not familiar with cleaning esp but I think that every plugin with the master oblivion.esm could be cleaned safely by their "identical to master" records.
Other two questions: Do I need to clean bob's armory? And War cry?

TES4Gecko can do it easily.

Um... you can if you want. May as well find out if it needs it.

I'm sure you have a huge supply of disinfectant at home. Why do you want to clean every single file you download? If there is nothing obviously wrong with it then just load it up and play. People even had stable games before there was TES4Edit. I have around 100 mods loaded and I cleaned none of them. Yet my game never crashes and doesn't cause any bugs.

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to clean any of the FCOM stuff. Whether that includes component mods, or just the FCOM_ plugins, I don't know. I wouldn't clean it though, if it needed it, I'd imagine they'd have released patches (as was done for WarCry 1.09).

EDIT: I'm with Phitt on the issue of cleaning stuff - I've never done it for a mod I haven't edited/released. It's not the end of the world if your LO is not squeaky clean, although clearly clean is better. If you're having trouble cleaning or deciding what to clean, I'd say don't do anything, it's better than breaking something - after all, the onus should be on the author to supply clean files (obviously for old mods this can't always be the case).

The identical to master part is more important in resolving compatibility issues than anything else. Or for correcting damage done by someone who hit "compile all" and never bothered to clean up after it.

For stability issues, the undelete+disable is more important because deleted vanilla objects can cause the game to crash. They don't always, but they can.

Pretty sure I found some dirty edits and (gasp) deleted objects in some of the older ones, Vorians.

So cleaning them is probably worth doing, just like everything else.

Older ones, yes, but all of the currently released versions are clean.

No, use TES4Edit, it's safer and provides a clear log of changes.

Well I was referring to the current releases not the old versions.

They all have been. Every currently released UL should already be cleaned, so just move on to something else and save yourself a bit of sanity.
