Should I be conscerned?

So after sleeping in a sixth-house temple I got soul sickness. But after leaving the temple I'm getting an error whenever I load my save game.

"Unable to locate reference for global script 'jo_AshStatueRemove'."

It does not crash the game if I ignore the error though. I understand that Soul Sickness and that script probably comes from LGNPC Pax Redoran, but will this error prevent me from getting rid of soul sickness?

It's always bad getting errors like that. It is from Pax Redoran, from memory. If you look at the script in the CS you can probably figure out what's going wrong.

Yes the script is from Pax Redoran. I am guessing it is a bad record in your saved game. Presumably the script was running when you last saved (although you might try loading an earlier save to see if the error message persists).

It may be possible to clean the record from your saved game using the Enchanted Editor or some other third-party utility (I am not very knowledgeable of such matters) and then see if the error message displays when you load the clean save - certainly create a new saved game file for the purpose of this solution. If it does load, you may want to start the script through the console. The script is designed to incrementally remove the effects of soul sickness once the cause (ash statues) are no longer influencing the player. It must have been running for that reason. Open the console and type:

StartScript "jo_AshStatueRemove"

It is designed to stop itself once the effects of soul sickness have been completely removed.

If there is no way to clean the save of this reference you could loading your current save, start the script as show above and then save the game as a new file. Exit Morrowind (to purge the temporary reference from RAM) and then start Morrowind and load the new save. This may prevent the error message, but without understanding the cause of the problem in the first place there could be problems later.

Good luck.

I did discover that when I took a look at the script.

I figured I would need to find out where the script was hanging up at since there were no problems on loading the save game before leaving the sixth house temple.

(Load save inside temple, no error. Recall spell-> Balmora, saved. Exited. Loaded save, error)

So I loaded up the save, skipped the error, and tried to see if the soul sickness would disappear as the script described. The soul sickness did in fact go away completely. But now that I think about it, I may have lost one of the soul sickness-es. I though I had 3, but perhaps I only had 2. Hm.

Anyway, the script seems to be running normally still and all instances of soul sickness were removed after sleeping away from the ash statues.
