Should Crytek add punkbuster?

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 4:26 pm

Not taking a stab at crytek but the cheating IMO is out of control to the point someone can download an undetected hack for version 1.2 via a simple web search. Realistically there's no way of crytek keeping up with the new hacks with their current cheat scheme, also means the development that would of gone to adding new things like dx11 would have to be diverted if they are serious about combating these hacks.

Why not use a third party scheme instead like punkbuster to carry the burden? Sure it's not the best but it's reliable enough.

Would imagine they are working on it and suddenly just activate it so cheaters cant put a date on when to turn it off.

Just look at how well PB worked for CoD4. PB is not fullproof, but it does a darn sight better than any other anti-cheat systems out there.

I know that PB is not the best anticheat on the place and maybe there won't be any anticheat that can caught all the cheats but I think Crytek should make games, fix bugs and not think to something important as an anticheat, so +1 for PB

80% of Crysis Wars servers out there has been running with PB disabled for the last 2 years.

Thats how effective it is...

But let's face it, Crytek and Evenbalance didn't give a crap about updating to patch things.

punkbuster and dedicated server admins who monitor there server will do alot.

so far only server admins can have servers cheat free

only downside of that is they they kick people who dont cheat but just play good

It's funny how everyone biches about this and that, but once they implement it people realize the trouble it causes then bich about that! You freaking people are never satisfied no matter what the **** Crytek does!

Everyone might bich but if you look at other PB games like battlefield bc2 and cod4, while there's still the odd hacker it's not as bad as it could be. Anything's better than a hackers convention.

You guys really need to think about priority of fixes they need. I have never seen a hacker in C2 yet and Its not like they are hard to avoid.
Hacking should be the last they need to worry about. PB svcks in general anyway, It will ban anyone who has a packet loss of 5% which can be a lot of people... all they need to do is give admins tools to oversee their servers and that's all. They really need to fix everything else. I'm getting the sense that most people on this forum know very little about PC games and how they should work if hacking is the only thing on their minds.

EA does not like Steam, and I can understand that. Would you want Steam to have a monopoly in PC gaming?

The best thing anti-cheat systems like PB do is discourage the casual hackers, which is about the best you're going to achieve. If the anti-cheat system is kept up to date regularely, it will make a noticable difference in the amount of hackers out there. Black Ops is a good example. Sure there was SOME hacking going on in the game, but not anywhere near the level of this game. Think about the overall number of people playing and the percentage of those hacking.

I can't remeber ANY game where self-made anti cheat tools did work. So just add PB into C2. PLEASE!
I'm really annoyed at the hackers I see on EVERY (mostly german) server. 24/7 Invi and speed hack are standard. On bad days the happy hacker party gets completed by1 to 3 wallhacks and Aimbots. [...]
