Should Crytek just say "sorry" and give us our money back?

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 9:42 am

As well as a free graphics card for hurting pc gaming with a shoddy console port?
Why is it still asking me if I want to adjust me "tv"? Please give us our money back as well as a gift to say sorry.

Because you're too dumb to patch your game.

Obviously they will never apologise for a dodgy product. If they admit to a fault in the product, that will open the flood gates for legal action. They don’t want to be held legally liable for a defective product that they haven’t been able to patch yet.

lol, nobody can sue them for admitting that they made a sh!tty game. as long as they don't say it's defective, which it isn't, really. it's a working-as-intended console game.

I am over the console port issue with the game. I just hope they release quick updates to patch the glitches, and upgrade the graphics to at least higher textures asap.

Otherwise, if you play the single player further in, it really is a cool game. The multiplayer from what I played is fun.

The best thing to do to really enjoy the game is to change your perspective of it as a Crysis game and look at it as a "Crysis Arcade" game. Thats what I had to do to get over the console porting annoyance, and I'm enjoying it now, aside from the terrible glitches.

Some of you guys are a hoot to read. Here is some general advice to avoid such disappointement. In the future..NEVER buy a game the day\week\month it is released...NEVER! You will rarely be grossly disappointed with a product if you wait say 2 months after the release. In those 2 months, read the forums, read the reviews, by then you'll know what to expect from the game.

You bought into the hype and now your mad because it doesn't meet whatever expectations you had for it. Consider this a life lesson.

Mad_Murdock, you are an idiot.

Buying a game on day one does not equal buying into hype. Crytek is a reputable developer with a stunning track record. Both Farcry and Crysis were exceptional games that pushed the envelope of PC gaming, so it is not unreasonable to expect good things from them. Consumers have every right to be aggravated when they purchase a game and find that it is nearly unplayable. Some bugs are to be expected of course, but catastrophic things like no SLI/CFX support is unreasonable.

Got a full refund from EA store no problem. The guy (or whatever) in live support didnt argue in any way. I have a suspicion EA knows this is a lame duck.

Oh i simply stated that multiplayer was broken (at this point i basically said all the thing that we all know) and there was no patch to fix it. Shame really, if they sort things out i may buy it again bargain bin price :)

I'm the idiot, but yet I'm smart enough to know that pretty much ever game without exception has bugs, some very major bugs in the opening weeks of it's launch. Far Cry was a great game, but you are letting your memory lapse if you don't remember all the screaming on the forums back during it's release. Particularly the one bug that would not let you proceed with the single player misson because the Mutants you needed to kill wasn't spawning correctly.

Maybe you should go back and read the Far Cry forums, then head over and read the Doom3 forums and check out the Battlefield 2 forums. You might notice a theme in the opening weeks of the games. So it's a catarophic event not being able to have SLI\CFX support ? No workaround at all ?

And again, read what I said. If you want to avoid massive disappointment, then don't buy the game on release day. Make sure that the sequel lives up to the original. You can call that being an idiot, I call it using common sense. But if you're going to ignore all of the forum spam Far Cry and Crysis 1 had and only remember the good, then come Crysis 3, you'll be talking about how great Crysis 2 was and how I'm idiot when I issue the same advice again.

I play pc and console games, and EVERY major game release has some sort of bugs when they launch that people throw a fit about, but the companies usually update them fairly quickly. I think that with Crysis its the whole graphics dumb-down that has added fuel to the flame. However,

Its a cool game, and it will only get better. We just will have to be patient unfortunately as this games primary focus is the console market first then pc second. Crytek, and EA know this so I think they will fix the bugs and give the game the graphical upgrade it needs. We'll just have to wait and see.

that is really not true. when multiple companies put money in a game (in this case nvidia/EA) they most likely signed a contract to keep there mouth shut about these issues. chances are if they said anything Nvidia would be all over them.

You are more than free to have your own opinion about this game and how good it should have been out the box and I can have my own opinion. Your expectations can be extremely high. Mine, I'll keep reasonably low.

Many of you are learning, with this game, the point I am making. And that is, You'll find plenty of disappointment if you listen purely to what the developers say and promise about their games. When Crytek said they were no longer going to make PC exclusive games, that in and of itself, should make you have taken a cautious approach to their next release. They just told you they were changing mindsets and priorities. Doesn't matter what tech demo they stick out there and what sweet nothings they whisper in your ear.

It's not fanboyism to say that over the years I've learned to take a wait and see approach to a game. There have been plenty of games that promised the stars and never fully delivered. Every game I've bought on release week has needed a fair amount of post release work. You're living in a imagingry world, if you expect a game to ship perfect or anything that resembles "Very good" out the box.

If it makes you feel better, I'm in the same boat as you. I went against my own rule of thumb and bought the game on release week, and while I don't view this game has unplayable or unacceptable , I do think I might have enjoyed it more had I waited another month or so or should I say, a patch or two. If because I find the game to be playable makes me a fanboy or employee then I don't imagine anything I have to say will make much difference.

I want my money back, but I'm realistic enough to realize that I won't be getting a cent back. But I've learned my lesson, and I'm never buying another game @ launch from them again.

...only game Ive ever seen that the company should apologize for is Star Trek Online...

why? Because between the game and a driver issue at NVidia (who owned up, btw... good on them), BURNED OUT GRAPHIC CARDS.

Seriously, if it hasnt damaged your hardware, you are just biching cause you don't like it. There, I said it... go blow it out.

Yeah, but it's not a legal issue. There's absolutely nothing illegal about expressing a negative opinion about a product that you helped create. I'm sure Crytek would never do it, and if they did they'd get flack from more ends than just NVIDIA, but all this crap about lawsuits is just childishness. Hell, I have read interviews with developers in which the dev specifically listed what was wrong with one of his older games.

When have you ever heard of a successful class action lawsuit against a game developer by an end-user for selling them a shoddy product?

I like Mad_Murdock usually don't buy a PC game at launch day, because of the numerous bugs and problems. The trend over the past years of releasing a unfinished game, then patch it later has grown more and more. I decided to take my stand because settling for "all games released have bugs, problems at launch" attitude, gives the developers and publishers the OK to release a game that is obviously not finished. This trend of accepting this as part of the norm, has allowed these game companies to profit from the sales of full price games, while delivering half done products.

I can come on these board and curse out Crytek / EA but really what is that going to do?? Instead I speak with my wallet and not buy a game on release day. I wait until the game has been all patched up or at least the major issues have been fixed before I make the purchase.

With that being said, I too fell for the hype of what Crysis 2 promised to be. I went against how I feel about buying on release day, because I had hope that Crytek would not fall in line with the other developers, but in the end they did. I should have waited and that is my fault. Crytek will be added to my do not buy on release day list.
