That's the one page out of Obsidian's book I'm glad Bethesda took. LOVE the companions in Fallout 4.

Not true.
Eh, I don't think the stories were even that interestingly different.
NCR vs. Caesar's Legion is *NOT* morally ambiguous.
It's every bit as good vs. evil as the BoS versus Enclave.
The Whitelegs vs. the Natives - Good versus Evil.
Lonesome Road? INCREDIBLY PRETENTIOUS.
Big Mountain?
*pause*
Okay, that was just AWESOME. So yeah, some of that please.
But yes, I remind you Obsidian can and does produce stinkers as well as major successes. I remind you of Knights of the Old Republic 2.
Chris Avellone left Obsidian entertainment, so no, let's keep this to Bethesda.
No. Fallout 2 did not "end, period, you didn't get to keep going." We can play it after the ending. In this respect Fallout 2 is the same as Fallout 3 with Broken Steel.
The difference is that its produced by Obsidian, and they've got a rather creepy case of hero worship.
Aside from that, the game plays the exact same day to day, I am able to roleplay a character of my own design in a massive open world, and I am very happy with my characters life in the Mojave. If Obsidian gets another chance I would be in heaven, since that means yet another Bethesda character to roleplay, and another game for me to play forever in my own way.
Tim Cain had nothing to do with New Vegas, and only joined Obsidian oa year after the last DLC came out.
-Tim Cain didn't work on FNV.
Anyone saying Fallout 4 isn't an RPG is delusional. It might not be the RPG (or more accurately, the Fallout) individuals were looking for, but an RPG it is nonetheless.
yeah, if it was just a shooter with a role-playing aspect, it would be like Mass Effect, where your combat at the begging of the game feels like it does at teh end, adn the stats of your character and the gear matter little, but here, the equipment you have, and abilties you choose, they all matter to how you play.
So yes, agreed, it IS an RPG.
To be fair NV is technically NCR vs Legion vs House vs Benny(until he is killed then it's your PC if you choice that path).
This is not the RPG you are looking for.
Yeah i am that funny. *cries*
The people who say that Bethesda's games aren't RPGs always make me laugh a little bit. Ive been searching many a year to find a companion to these games that offers the same freedom to roleplay, and although Ive come close Ive yet to find one that truly matches this in both the actual gameplay and the high amount of changes made with each release to keep it fresh.
People who do talk about how Bethesda's games are some horrible pit of despair are always using the same arguments that were used in 2002 though. Morrowind is dumbed down, Morrowind is for inferior console gamers, Morrowind doesn't have any choices and consequences, Morrowind is bad simply because its different from the last game, and so on. Its not often that I hear specifics about how Fallout 4 has a voiced protagonist that is a personal dislike or something like that, its always elitism piled ontop of hate that just makes all of the other criticism like my dislike of the voiced protag seem just as hollow.
I think we need someone outsourced to make paragraphs.
People always seem to complain about Bethesda's treatment to Fallout, but I don't have a problem with what they're doing. These games have been pretty fun.
That being said, I didn't enjoy Fallout: New Vegas as much. Not to say it wasn't fun, but Obsidian's take seemed to be geared toward pleasing factions and that's just not my cup of tea. Worse, not matter what choice we did, it always came out the same: fighting on the dam.
But the worst thing is, Obsidian's game was far, far more glitchy than Fallout 3. Multiple freezes didn't make playing fun, so that's why I think Bethesda should stick with it.
Too true. I remember the schism between the fan base when Morrowind came out. Daggerfall die hards were saying how dumbed down Morrowind was. Lmao. It's now argued to be the gold standard in the TES franchise. Rinse and repeat with each iteration.
I didn't bother reading that wall of text, but no. Obsidian should make DLC for Obsidian games.
My only problem with Fallout 4 is the dialog options. Other then that I love the game. I do prefer NV to FO3 and FO4(at the moment) but by no means do I think FO3 and FO4 aren't RPGs or bad games.
yeah, that actually REALLY gets on my nerve, you mention ANYTHING bad about Morrowind in the elder scrolls forums, even when it is 100% justified, you WILL be attacked by a army of rabid [censored]/girls who refuse to believe anything that is even slightly negative toward the game, to the point that when asked what the positives and negatives of each TES game are, the only negative that many seem to say is "graphics", not the lack of time mattering, not the stupid quest system that was done better in the previous games and THAT was pretty basic, nevermind how easy the game is to break, the ONLY negative some people will even somewhat see is the graphics.
Thats the thing, I love all of my children equally, so I find it kinda hard to say that one of these games may have a "bad" element to it since that implies that I think a element to the game is somehow objectively low quality when so much of gaming is personal taste, but some people seem to hold Good Old Morrowind up as some sort of superior game that all the rest of TES should aspire to or something.
I mean I love Morrowind a lot, but the entire reason why I love Fallout and TES so much is the heavy amount of change in between games. I didn't want Fallout 4 to be a second Fallout 3, since I already have Fallout 3 and enjoy it very much. Each of these games are such a standalone thing that I think it does a bit of a disservice to say that one is superior to the other, since the entire point is that underneath its the same framework but each title gives this framework a flavour and feel that is distinct from all of the others.
Which is again why I love Obsidians work, because with a new developer comes new flavours to try Bethesda's game in. New Vegas is very impressive to me simply because it shows that Bethesda the developer is not required to make a game that can best be described as a Bethesda Game.
Yep. It's a side affect of the amount of time an individual pours into each game. We tend to forget the flaws and remember only the good. Can't say I'll ever forget Fargoth, though. [censored] that guy.
I wouldn't want Obsidian to waste their time with Fallout 4. They have their own projects to work on now.
Which one did Obsidian make then? Cause neither of those describes what they did in NV.
