Should dragons be infinite?

I really think dragons need to be unlimited. What is to be done after you've killed all of them?

Dragons are a special enemy, have specific powers, and have been harkened by Alduin himself. Also consider the fact that dragons haven't been all too plentiful in the last games. I see where you might be coming from, but it just makes no sense from a gameplay perspective nor the story perspective. If they're infinite, then there really is no hope of saving the world is there? What would happen with the dragon shouts? The entire point of killing one is to stop it from harassing the town and to gain its shout. There's supposed to be a sense of accomplishment instead of it being a run-of-the-mill enemy.

yes. but only if they have a few days in between them showing up again. I don't want to kill a dragon and leave that spot and come back in a hour and there be another one, or whatever. I kinda have a suspicoin that dragons won't be infinite since we know that we will be getting a dragon shout for each one we kill and there can not be an infinite number of dragon shouts... so make of that what you will.

One per shout, hunt down all twenty or whatever it is, if you want all the powers, sounds fine to me.
As to what to do after you have killed them, just wait for the UESP wiki page on things to do in Skyrim if you're bored, I'm betting rolling lettuce down the 7000 steps gets an honourable mention.

I'm going to go with no. I wouldn't mind if they were, but I get the impression that every fight with a dragon is going to be an epic struggle. It sounds like fun...unless you're just trying to get from point A to point B. Unless, after the main quest, or whatever, you're either able to dispose of them a little faster or avoid them altogether, then I'm not really a fan of the idea of infinite dragons. I can't see any way that a fight with a dragon will still be fun the thousandth time.

That said, there should be tons of them.

even if they are a speacial enemy the should not completely disapear (unless you've done main quest, provided the MQ is about stopping the dragons). I severely dissagree with you that it makes no sense from a game play perspective. for alot of people I am guessing a great deal of gameplay will be around a dragon hunter character and will want to be able to save villages several times. not to mention from the role playing perspective.

infinite dragons would be okay as long as they are not very spammy, but appear uncommonly instead and with a few days between spawns.

I sure don't. I'd like each fight to be difficult, I want the fight with a dragon to very much be a life or death situation. So I'd like each dragon to be too powerful to face with additional enemies.

And to the OP, I am pretty certain they will not be infinite. I wouldn't mind some lesser dragonkin being infinite though, the ones we do not have to kill for our shouts.

.............................I can't believe people want them to be infinite...

Part of the reason enemies are fresh and NON tedious to kill, is because there isnt another one every 5 minutes....lets not undermine Beths Supposed hardwork on the Dragons by spamming them, contrary to belief this edition of TES isn't just about OMGLULZ DRAGONS......

No, they should not and most likely will not be infinite. Compare them to Oblivion's gates. There were more than you cared to do but they were not limitless.

I think it should have two major factors:

First, no moar dragons when you complete the main quest, and on top of that, any dragon shouts you havent unlocked at that point will be lost forevur to that playthrough.

Second, the frequency you see dragons should be inversly proportional to your character's level. Face it, even if there isn't supposed to be much pressure to make a well developed character, it should at some point punish you for completely being stupid. The higher the level, the more often you can find a dragon.

I'd like to clear things up that some people don't understand:

1. Pete or Todd stated that Dragons will NOT attack you on sight (Only on special circumstances.) So you won't be spammed by them and can go from point A to point B quite easily.

2. (My opinion) I honestly don't see a problem with infinite dragons, I mean if they're the most fun enemy to fight, why in the hell would you want them to be limited? I don't care if it ruins your "immershun" that there is an unlimted amount, I want to have fun!

3. Again, for people that don't understand, KILLING a dragon doesn't mean "ZOMG Dragonshouts!" It's already confirmed that you recieve a word and use that word to learn dragonshouts from the various walls. Each shout is 3 words, so we're talking killing 60 dragons here to get all 20 dragonshouts. But I want dragons to last even when I get all my dragonshouts, I want to own them and have fun.

What?

I hope they are still around after the main quest is over, but I'm not sure if they will be.

They definitely shouldn't be unlimited, as that would cheapen the epicness of fighting a dragon, nor should there be a large amount of dragons. Here is a question. Should the Oblivion gates be infinite? Certainly not. They got boring for me after the 4th one. And there are 60 to complete in Oblivion, although they are optional. I definitely don't want to think in Skyrim *sigh*... Another Dragon like I did with the Oblivion gates.

Dragon's aren't very numerous. If you remember lore-wise, Dragon's are actually very, very rare. None have been seen in thousands of years. Why would an infinite army of Dragon's just randomly appear?
There are limited Dragon's because of this, and it makes sense. One big Dragon (Alduin) and his cronies, the lesser Dragon's.

It actually says that killing a Dragon gives you the ability to learn a shout, not a word, so 20 Dragons, and 60 walls, seems to be implied.

Not me. They're aparently main quest and character related, therefore you'd have unlimited abilites?
What is to be done after you've killed all of them?

Erm, are you new to TES?
After you kill them all, or finish the main quest, or even after you just kill one, you can do EVERYTHING ELSE (well, almost everything else ;)

It didn't work with the monkeys, and I don't want to have to buy copies of all Shakespeare's plays.

Limited. It doesn't make sense for them to continue to pop up after the main questline when (I'm assuming) you stop Alduin. These should feel like epic boss fights anyway, not some random encounter you can trigger at any time. It cheapens the experience to have them infinite.
