Should dungeons be scary?

dungeons absolutely need to be scary. The skyrim world will be bigger than Tamriel (Oblivion). The only problem is that Tamriel is bigger on the map. So where is all that extra land going to come from? underground sir.. Skyrim has 5 cities and deep, wide tunnels under each city (similar to Tamrials open plains but underground). Therefore a large portion of the map will be underground, so there could be dungeons dedicated to being scary and others not so scary.

Depends on which dungeon, i.e. tombs should be terrifying, a swamp cave or a bandit hideout should be nerve racking (due to avoiding detection etc) but not 'scary' as such

@above poster, OB is Cyrrodill, Tamriel is the whole continent

i thought the original res evil and fear where a lot scarier than dead space not sure what ppl find immensely scary about ds.
its quite subjective though.
i voted some scary bitz, because most still need to be for other activities, fear scary due to the style fitting best imo.
example:
ghost actually commit paranormal phenomena instead of just floating around, no sneak attacking ghosts, doesn't make sense to me, they should always 'appear', and even disappear so to keep the suspense, skellies could construct suddenly out of bone piles, make you think twice with all those bones around, sounds and movement of enemies that arnt actually there, just to keep you on your toes, miniature set pieces like trap doors or cave ins, suddenly moving the player. stuff like that.

thats a good idea. What if ghosts stalk you untill you come across a pile of bones, then they construct the skeletons by possesing the bones?
