Should Emperor of Cyrodiil be randomly chosen?

Post » Mon Mar 03, 2014 4:57 am

Should emperor of Cryrodiil be randomly chosen? After all we all helped to get that person on the throne?

For those of us with lives we are never going to be Emperor, as much as some of us want to be,with work, wifes, and family we just do not have the time to commit to becoming Emperor.

A simply suggestion would be to have a randomly selected person chosen at the time all six keeps are taken from the wiining alliance. That person would then recieve a pop up asking him/her if they would like to become Emperor. This way it is not forced upon them. If they select no, then the system simply selects another random person from the winning alliance until that person selects Yes that they would like to become Emperor and are then crowned.

It should be the person who has the highest score (most caps, most kills, etc). Having it be random is extremely unfair to hardcoe players, and having it be limited to guild leaders or group commanders is extremely elitist.

He who does the most, should be emperor. Whether it's a lone-wolf or a zerg soldier.

Yes, I believe so. Considering the person with the highest contribution becomes emperor, it means that person took very little breaks and never even logged out, which imo promotes an unhealthy style, which shouldn't be encouraged by developers even more and beyond what MMOs are by definition.

A campaign lasts for very long, mind you.

Even Blizzard took out "server first" achievements because of that.

Why on earth would anyone vote yes for this? Should the CEO of Google be randomly chosen? Or the President of the United States? Put the work in and win the spot, or don't. I won't, so it'll never happen. But I'll never delude myself into thinking I'm entitled to something I've never worked for.

Maybe having an Emperor voted in from the current top PVP group, that wouldn't be such a crazy idea.

An emperor randomly chosen from the 1st 5 players on the contribution list actually sounds reasonable to me.

More like sounds extremely unfair to the person who was number 1 in contribution if he's not chosen.

You do the most, you get the most. This is the way the world is, and the way it should be here. No socialist emperor titles plz...

No. I don't have time to ever become emperor, but that's my problem. I'll leave people that can do it alone and let them do it.

It should not always be linked to kills though..As the greatest emperor=/=greatest murderer.
Perhaps the criteria can be different each campaign..the one who resurrected most players, helped capturing most keeps,...
And different campaigns having different requirements to become emperor is not "a random selection

Kind of invalidates the whole argument for this though doesn't it? If the argument is - not everyone has the time to put in - and then you randomly select from the top 5 only, you're selecting from those people who do and have in fact put the time in to begin with.

In which case, just reward it to the person who deserves it, the #1 player as it currently is.

It should be the way it is now--points. You get points for everything.

Not everyone has to become the emperor.

Should definitely not be random.

PS - The 100 top contributors could vote for an emperor.

Sometimes he is though, sometimes he is :starwars:

Choosing the best warrior as an emperor isn't exactly unheard of in earth's history. If someone puts in the time to getting kills, and gets more points for his alliance that way than other players who are getting kills and capping points, then yeah. Dude should get the title.

Side effects include nausea, dizziness, dystrophy, loss of hearing, uncontrollable rage, hypertension and in extreme cases, death. Pregnant women and people who are nursing should not attempt to become emperor. Call your doctor if your murder boner lasts for more than four hours as this may be a serious medical condition. If being emperor is not working for you, contact your doctor for alternative treatments to egomania.

LOL these are all terrible ideas, half-baked care-bear "everyone gets a smiley face and a gold star on their tests for trying so hard" ideas

Titles should be earned, and should mean something other than "i got lucky in a RNG contest"

There's a reason that 'exclusive' things are exclusive, after all. That's (most) all peoples drive to be better at whatever. You don't become employee of the month by just helping out, you do it by excelling and exceeding expectations.

Why? So the people who contributed nothing get an OP skill line? No thanks. Even if I never get Emperor, I don't want xXCODFanBlazeItRektXx who was just sitting in the back spamming AoE and yelling racial slurs to get it.

I actually would like to see an election for emperor!

This way those that want to become emperor would have to treat the community with respect and it would become likely that the raid leaders who actually make sure to get the crown have a good chance (name recognition).

Currently the only requirement for an emperor pretty much is to be able to play 16+ hours a day, something raid leaders really cant do since its a very very exhausting task ^^.

(that is a no to random but doesnt mean I particularly like the current system either)

Hell no, that would be even dumber than the current system, which is almost as bad as the old High Warlord/Grand Marshal system in WoW.

Emperor should be reserved for those that put the effort in and do well, but having absolutely no life shouldn't be a prerequisite...

which means it well be....

and the coo was a joke, the amount of coos going on means the entire guild system would be at war with each other and the other territoies would just walk in and take it....and then coo each other.....

Emperor of Tamriel should be EARNED, pure and simple, no questions asked.

It's a prestige title given to the best and most dedicated.

No offense, but your mindset is what is wrong with most MMO's today. You think that everything should be handed to you and spoon fed. If you don't have the time to work out, you think a physique should be given to you?

No. You don't put in the time, you don't get the result. Emperor is gained and earned. I'm sorry if you don't have time for it, others do, and they will reap the benefits of that.

Having an election would be better than someone being randomly chosen. But then again... im pretty sure the hardest working player deserves this.
