should Fallout games focus more on day-to-day living?

Post » Sat Aug 13, 2011 7:25 am

It's the way I present it, I guess, I'm too blunt. A lot of my ideas are radical, and players don't like change. That's all. Not saying those ideas are bad, just different and need some thinking upon.

No, its the ideas, they are unfallouty.

They are either not fun, or they're ideas that would require so much of the game that they'd take away from the actual game that people are coming to play.

If we want family management, there's a series for that already - and we'd go get it if we wanted it.

Yep. Pretty much sums it all up. B)

Problem with this is that the devs won't have enough time to work on all of this, so these features will either be [censored] of the entire game will be [censored].

Exactly this. Generally, in the world of video game developing, if a major change is made to incorporate something new (and making a Sims-type option would be something major) a currently existing aspect is sacrificed or downgraded (at least somewhat). My guess is that in this case, quests and the storyline would suffer in favor of the "build up your family" gameplay. I'm certainly opposed to something like that.

I also just don't really care for a Sims-type option. Doesn't really sound fun to me. I'd rather them use the energy to bugfix or improve current features.

Lol. Am I the only one of the fence here. I mean I get the reasons for it not being done - the developers have more important things to do an all relatively speaking - but given that I spent most of my time on the Sims trying to make it Fallout and most of my time in Fallout making aspects of it rather Simlike in nature I wouldn't honestly mind if the developer did something to [censored] help me for a change; but yeah these things would be detrimental to the main game which is suffering enough already so I'll just stick to some serious RPing.

I think it would be a cool idea to have as a bonus thing, say if you pre-order Fallout 4. You get a Fallout tycoon kind of game, like a sims strategy game. It would be interesting.

Sarcasm?

Why not just ask the makers of SIM to come out with a Fallout like DLC for their next game.

Just say no to SIMS kids.

No, no sarcasm. If it was purely Sims then no I wouldn't like it, but add the strategy part where you say go to a 10x10 map with 3 computers. You choose a spot and build stuff, make armies and capture more land.

Forget I said a sims like game, just strategy, but make it very simple. With only 4 factions, maybe BoS, NCR, Legion, and Enclave. It has nothing to do with anything, and each side has different units, but the buildings are all the same, just different looks.

I feel it would keep me amused for a couple weeks. And it would be some kind of DLC.

So a game like the Total War series added to Fallout 4 or another future game? That would be god awful as well. Building anything, houses and what not should not be in Fallout. Leading armies should be left up to Total War and other games like that. I love Total War but having it mixed into the next Fallout game would be just as bad as adding SIMS to Fallout. Why can't people just be happy with Fallout as Fallout?

I am all for a total war/fallout mod which was being worked on by Bordam but I think that has been cancelled.

Taking the Core Element of a game, wheather it be SIMS, Total War, Civilization or any other game and trying to mix it with Fallout would ruin Fallout by polluting the Core Element of Fallout.

Well, they do have a SIMS Medieval.

Maybe they need a SIMS Post-Apocalypse.

All those that want SIMS crap in Fallout should get bugging Maxis and EA on making a SIMS Post-Apocalypse expansion and leave Fallout ALONE!!!

There are a lot more strategy games than Total War. Like I said, it would be some bonus, and have nothing to do with any part of the series besides using the factions and characters. It would be some mini-game maybe if you pre-order Fallout 4.

Or it would be an idea for an ipod.

If it was something none-canon, mini game I would be ok with it. I also know there are more strategy games than Total War. I am just a big fan of that series. Fallout first then Total War.

Yes the whole point was some non-canon minigame, just a little bonus. It would be very simple. Just basic, say 5 buildings 10 different units, 4 different factions with 3 difficulties. That is all.

Like I said, if you pre-order it, say at gamestop, you get it.

I was aware you knew, it just seemed like you thought Total War was the only possible way to even make a fallout strategy game.

Yes, one that is very simple would work nicely.

I think I'd actually prefer a Fallout RTS to be made like the Age of Empires series. Total war wouldn't lend itself very well to the type of fighting Fallout would require.
