good day ladies and gents! :)

heard about this lovely game a while ago and release date is coming closer and closer!

i just got this one dillemma as the title can tell..

really in doubt if i should get it for PC or PS3, i love to be able to chat while playing (so that would make me say get it for PC.)
then again im scared of hackers/exploiters (so that would lead more to my PS3.)

pre-order for steam is easy cause i can just download the game when its avaliable hmmmm..

will be getting this game FOR SURE because it looks so promising :)

so, eeeeh.. help?

regards, pld (Tom.)

Which platform are you more comfortable with?

Which platform do you have friends playing on that will also buy BRINK?

Now you've gotten the tools, now do the dirty work :P

Although i'm on xbox so we won't be fighting together it seems to me that this game is designed better for a console. Cause with the SMART and the fact that you can do all the SMART things like jump and slide with separate buttons, to make the fastest traveling is a combo of SMART and manual control I don't see how you could use all of those controls with a keyboard easily.

But as a lot of people have said on similar topics, pick whichever one your friends will be playing on.

It depends can you computer rig handle the game, if not get it on your consol or It depends what you like most, But first check if it will work on your pc.

to be honest i dont really mind on which i play thats the problem ;) played TFC/TF2 for years on pc, played mw1/mw2/bioshock1+2/moh/blackops on ps3.. (ps3=chilling on couch/pc is chair which gives backpain after an hour.. but thats not what u meant with comfy innit ;p )

for the friends-part, not that i dont have any, but only a few mates of me game a lot.. some still stuck in wow or just not really the shooter kind-of-guy. im sure some of the ppl in my PSN list will play brink but then again i dont really consider them "friends" (more as in ppl ive met online in other games.)

hmm might be true on the control part :) but hmm, still not sure..

thanks for the quick replies, 1 more ciggie and off2bed.. still got about 2 months to think about with platform to take hehe ;) probably pc cause of being able to chat with people and easy pre-order through Steam.

well see ;) anyways cant wait for BRINK. and whatever platform ill choose.. cya on the battlefields ^_

You don't need to worry about hackers - BRINK is protected by Valve Anti Cheat on all systems. If it ever catches you with a hack, it'll ban you when you least expect it. The trick here is that it delays its bans so the people who make hacks don't know what worked and what didn't, so they can't make the hacks any better.

honestly looking at a lot of gameplay videos that they showed, all the systems seemed designed for the console in mind. radial menus everywhere.

But from quick information rundown ive looked at, dedicated servers/cheaper price ontop of retail + steam support, im pretty much sold on pc edition already.

The developer, Splash Damage, is primarily a PC developer.

And no one said Radial Menus = Console. I find them very useful and I'm a PC gamer at heart.

I've run into the same dilemma. The enticing aspect of getting it for PC over,in my case,PS3 is the fact that it will not be using dedicated servers for console gaming.

I'm currently playing Crysis 2 on PS3,and it is running on P2P,and it gets very frustrating at times, and it's only 6 vs 6! After playing a lot of MAG for over a year now,and seeing how dedicated servers work for 256 player on one map when Zipper had a lot more servers running,I can only expect a really good experience with smaller player counts.

I admit I'm a bit biased -- I've always played shooters on the PC and they just felt so much better on a keyboard and mouse than they do on a gamepad. I would recommend buying this for PC -- I already pre-ordered this on Steam.

But, like others have said, you have to have a decently beefy computer to run this, so keep that in mind.

They most likely will not release a demo, so I say pick a platform, pre-order, and never look back. :)

It's so weird being on a forum where the PC players are actually suggesting someone pick the platform that best suits them instead of saying "PC ALL THE WAY CONSOLES ARE FOR NOOBS!"

It... it gives me hope...

Or a forum where the console players aren't suggesting "Console all the way, PC's are for haxxxors!!" :)

Personally, i want to play any first person shooter with a mouse and keyboard, but would agree that you should play with what you're comfortable with and definitely try and play online with friends for a better experience.

hmmm will a game designed for a ~3-4 year old system run well on my powerful computer that I got just recently
*looks at BLOPS*
:[

I guess it depends if they did a good job at optimisng the engine for the PC and didn't just port it and given what I've heard I think it'll be well optimised

+I think SDK will be released for PC (not sure if for consoles though)

and naturally personal preference plays in as well because I for example have tried using the console shooter controls but they feel very stiff compared to what I percieve as the freedom a keyboard and mouse

yeah i think the dedicated servers will do it for me also. on some FPS/shooters i had problems on my PS3 with my NAT (sometimes bad connection) steam support is also lovely, price i dont really care about the game will be worth it anyways ^_

I'd say the PC too. I've a 360 and love it, but I can't aim for s**t on it :D As for the SMART, I dont think it is a problem. Space - jump, CTRL - duck, Mouse thumb button - SMART. Can aim, shoot and move perfectly.
Also, nowadays the consoles no longer provide protection from cheaters/hackers, so the PC would IMO be safer due to dedicated servers and server admins who can kick/ban on the fly. Also with a PC like that I believe you'll be able to run the bejesus out of brink.
