Should I get Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate edition?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 7:53 pm

I don't own any of the FO: NV DLC's would you say they are worth getting? On my second or third play through I started to enjoy FO: NV much more so I was wondering about the DLC's. I was a die hard FO3 player so I was wondering do the NV DLC's live up to the FO3's ones?

YES!!!!!!!!! And that's a resounding YES!!!!!!!!!! OMG, best DLCs ever! And they are way better than FO 3 DLCs! The 4 NV DLCs are actually sort of connected through remarks from NPCs. So, I usually start with Honest Hearts, then Old World Blues, after that Dead Money and Lonesome Road should always come last. (save the BEST for last!!!!!). All DLCs have an amazing story, amazing setting and are simply epic! :)

It's a matter of subjective opinion. I didn't find FONV to be anywhere near as well written as FO3 as far as historical context, but if you liked the main game, you'll probably like the DLC, too. They aren't expensive, after all, especially if you wait for a sale. Steam has sales every week, so that might be a better option than the physical disc, but even the full SRP isn't a high price.

LOL not as well written as FO3 DLC? Don't get me wrong, I love FO 3, but none of the DLCs gave me goosebumps or haunted my dreams as much as NV DLCs did. Operation Anchorage was a simple, linear FPS DLC, the alien ship was extremely strange and felt out of place, Point Lookout was creepy as heck, not looking forward of going back there anytime soon. The Pitt was maybe the best of them all, but I still didn't feel like I couldn't wait to go back through it again. Where's the historical context concerning the Pitt and Mothership Zeta?

Now I can run through Honest Hearts again and again, and I'm always looking forward to walk the Lonesome Road again, only to meet Ulysses, if nothing else. The NV DLCs are grounded in history, their roots go deep and they all fit very well into the Fallout world.

I think Fallout 3 had better DLC's, but Lonesome Road was very good.

I just got the Ultimate Edition, so yes! The Mojave is amazing!

As for the DLC, wouldn't it make more sense to play then in order starting with Dead Money?

I usually start with Honest Hearts, because it's the easiest and you get some cool stuff. You can play that on a lower level character. Plus, it's not really tightly connected to the other DLCs. OWB talks about Elijah though and hints that he went to the Sierra Madre, that's why I said that OWB should come before DM.

I always enjoy walking, for example, Elijah's "road" backwards, first meet them, then discover their past.

Fallout New Vegas add-ons are pretty good. Especially Honest Hearts and Gun Runner's Arsenal. But they arn't anyehere near good as the FO3 add-ons. If you want to try them get the Ultimate Edition. it's a better deal than paying 800 msp for each add-on after you buy the regular game.

(That is if you are on Xbox 360. I don't know anything about the PS3 or PC)

True, I've done that before as well! During my first play through, I had no idea that the DLCs shared some connection and so I actually played Lonesome Road before any of the others. I found out bits and pieces concerning the other DLCs and I was like huh? this is seriously awesome! However, I think it would have been great, if I had known more about the other places, during my final confrontation.

I'd say the FNV DLC's aren't as good as the FO3 ones (though FNV is a better game) but still pretty enjoyable. Old World Blues is most fun to play.

New Vegas UE is worth it. Most of the bugs/glitches are fixed from the original NV, plus the DLC's are better than FO3's in my opinion. The DLC's will add atleast 20+ hours to the game. The story's are richer in NV DLC as is expected. Along with it comes more weapons/armor and perks.

Yes playing them in order will make the added DLC stories all come together and make sense.

Yes you should get the DLC. Play them in order, they're all great DLCs. OWB I am not crazy about but it's still a good DLC. :fallout:

No. LR, Dead Money, and Old World Blues all surpass the Fallout 3 DLCs by far. Although I very much enjoyed the Pitt's story and the setting of Point Lookout.

(Broken Steel, Zeta, and Anchorage were crap)

Well Dead Money is a bit annoying as many would agree. Although the other 3 DLC's are very good. The other three are very good for exploring and have the most interesting scenery and plenty of things to loot. Old World Blues would be my favorite as it's everything you'd expect to come from a Fallout game but Old World Blues adds alot of humor to it which I personally really enjoyed.
