I think most people who like Fallout 3 will find something to enjoy in New Vegas, the world design is a bit less interesting and you don't have the insane amount of dungeons but the stories and quests are much better, plenty of new gameplay mechanics too.

Get the Ultimate Edition, the DLC for New Vegas is great :)

hardcoe mode is fun and I always play with it enabled, I wouldn't say it's super realistic but it's enough to give you the sense that you're actually scavenging for supplies, also stimpacks no longer instantly heal and you'll need doctors bags to heal crippled limbs :)

They're not as big as Skyrim's but they're bigger than Fallout 3's. The four main ones are basically all entire extra games with their own intros and endings and everything. There's also a weapon pack called the Gun Runners Arsenal which adds a ton of weapons plus some new challenges and perks. You don't really need to worry about installing the Courier's Stash, but it does give you some nice starting equipment, which you can just sell at the first store you come to if you prefer.

One thing to bear in mind is that the setting is very different from Fallout 3. You're not running and gunning through a depopulated city and fending off raiders in an abandoned supermarket any more; the world is getting back on its feet and it needs your help to stay that way.

If I were you, I'd buy Fallout New Vegas. I believe there's a Game of the Year Edition which has all DLC's so you can increase your level capacity from 30 to 50, new weapons, ammo types, and new quests. And with Courier's Stash, that's a great way to start off when playing hardcoe because I think when it says at the top left you drink from you Vault 13 canteen, it decreases your thirst bar by a little, you can get good gear, and better armor right off the bat that you can't find anywhere else in the game!

AWESOME!!! If there was one thing i didn't like about fallout 3 it was the damn supermarkets and THOSE ANNOYING METRO TUNNELS!!!
Also if i get the Ultimate Edition does it have ALL of the dlc? Also does the story end when you complete the MQ?

I agree, going into the Metro tunnels were just annoying because of the different tunnels and all and it just gave me a "bad vibe", you know. I also just checked on GameStop and for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition is selling for roughly around $20.00 NEW and it's $19.00 USED. Personally, I'd spend the extra dollar for it new and yes, it comes with all DLC's (Dead Money, Old World Blues, Honest Hearts, Lonesome Road, Gun Runners' Arsenal, and even Courier's Stash)!. I'm going to assume just like Fallout 3's Game of the Year Edition the DLC's are on a separate disc you put in your console and you select which DLC's you want to install. Hope this helps you a bit more.

I'm on PS3 so i couldn't get 1, 2, and tactics even if i wanted to. To be honest i hate turn based games, and i don't particularly like top downs either, so nope. (But no disrespect to you, because if i ever got a PC capable of handling games i would download Fallout one and two from steam :))

Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 were made by two different game studios, and it shows too. Both are good games, but whilst set in the same universe have some quite major differences. Fallout 3 focuses on dungeons (although they aren't called that) and exploration. There aren't many actual quests, not like Skyrim with all the different factions, but the map is huge and there are tons of underground subways to explore. Meanwhile, Fallout: New Vegas focuses more on choice. The map is smaller, but there are more quests and many of them can be completed in a number of ways. The colour palette is also different between the two and, in my opinion, New Vegas has a lighter tone (more humour) too.

Overall, however, you'll like New Vegas if you enjoyed Fallout 3. As some reviewers put it, it is at its core more Fallout 3 - and that is not a bad thing! I love New Vegas, personally, but then Obsidian make great games like KOTOR 2 (yes, I know it was rushed, but if you install the Restored Content Mod it is great). New Vegas is a triumph in game design, in my opinion. Never has an open-world game had such a good storyline before.

Fallout 1 and 2 could run a toaster. Seriously, they're old games, so run on any modern PC. Still, I understand you, because I don't like Fallout 1 or 2 either. I'm not a fan of turn-based RPG games.

YES get it.

And IMO Fallout NV was made to be played in hardcoe Mode. It's not really that much harder, but is more realistic and involving than non-HC.

Each of the four main DLCs is very good to excellent, and they differ from each other quite a bit.

Haha, I see a fair bit of hate for the metro, I looooved the metros in Fallout 3, they felt like an endless dungeon for me and really enhanced the illusion that D.C was in the same worldspace rather than all these pockets. I was disappointed that Skyrim didn't have any equivalent, I wanted huge networks of Dwemer tunnels inside entire mountains...though Blackreach was definitely cool, if only they'd made it bigger

It may still run it though since they came out in the late 90's, while Minecraft came out more recently (~2009).

it is one of my personal favorite games, i loved all the dlc too, though the difficulty varies, dont go in lonsome road or dead money at too low of a level, i learned the hard way, "go in dead money early" they said, "it will be easy"

But before making your final decision, they tell you a preferred level to play the DLC at.
