Should I get Game of the Year edition?

Post » Thu Mar 31, 2011 7:25 am

Hi,

I already own Fallout 3 and just started playing through the combo pack addon disc that includes point lookout and maybe one more (think its Broken Steel). But I want to try the other three though they are 9.99 each through Games for Windows, though Bestbuy has the Game of the Year Edition for 29.99, so it makes more sense to get another game license and maybe sell the old one if possible? Also will my save games be able to be ported over?

Thanks.

I started off with the collector's edition & only got the the DLC via the GOTY & my saves worked afterwards. one thing to note, the DLC in GOTY is all together in one installer & there isn't a way to pick just the ones you want to install, that is a good price for the set. I'd buy it if I didn't already have it.

The GOTY is what I started FO3 with. I can't complain at all....if you can get it for a good price (which, you should be able to...)...go for it.

GOTY contains Fallout 3 plus all five add-ons- Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta.

It's worth getting assuming you want Mothership Zeta & Operation Anchorage. They're not for everyone.

yes goty is the best deal you can get, at least all the dlcs are already there and you wont worry for awhile that the game will end if you currently have vanilla.

In Mothership Zeta you shoot at aliens that make annoying sounds for 3-4 hours straight and having areas close off forever after you leave them.

Good if You Like.
Energy Weapons
Aliens (were talking about the sereo-typical kind)

Bad if you like
nice open spaces

I cant really give you an opion for Operation Anchorage, but you get possibly the most ridiculous weapons and armor in the game.

You wont regret it. I brought FALLOUT 3 when it first came out and then eventually the GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION when it was released. It comes with a cool DLC installer so it installs them all in one shot on your system instead of having to do them individually.

I was playing today and i couldnt believe how amazing FALLOUT 3 still looks. Just switching off HDR and using BLOOM is like playing a totally different game. With mods that add more like LESS VIEW DISTANCE, TALKING USER INTERFACE, BETTER BOOZE by CptJoker, What's Your Brand Cigarette texture megapack! by CptJoker, KBAT Radio - Radio Serials from the darkness!, Naughty Skill Book Covers Billboards & Posters by PerroLoco based on some retextures done by Obsidianstag, CLOSE TO FALLOUT: Menu Screens 1.1 by MaFFej things really start to take on personal style to immersive gameplay.

I went ahead and got it saturday.I'm new at this and so I have a lot to get used to.GOTY does seem to look a tad sharper(or is it me?)
No game is perfect. If something is too powerful as to take the fun away,I won't use it.Theres a lot going on in the wasteland.
i'll just poke around awhile..........Thanks.
