I was a huge fan of the world, guilds, quests, etc. Was not a fan of the leveled creatures. Much prefer Skyrim's version for vanilla. But with a single mod like OOO, it turned Oblivion into one of my favorites though quite challenging. Add a companion like Vilja who craps all over any follower in Skyrim and the game truly becomes my fave.

I personally love the thriving forests, I always feel at peace in the Great Forest
Yes, forests were one thing that Oblivion did really well. Bethesda managed to create a wonderfully bucolic, warm and inviting atmosphere in Cyrodiil. I've always felt that was one of the game's biggests strengths.

Tbh, that′s still one of the main reasons I have never left Cyrodiil. And probably never will :tes:

I agree with this Morrowind and Oblivion are both amazing games and in my honest opinion are better than Skyrim in some aspects.

Oblivion is around 20 dollars for just the vanilla for the ps3. I bought Morrowind with both expansions included a year or two ago for the computer for around 20 dollars I think.

Get Morrowind instead of Oblivion.

I'd just like to point out that the combat in Morrowind can be just a tad weird. Whether or not you hit your target is determined by stats, it does not matter if you are standing right next to them and watching your weapon hit them.

Oh okay. That's kinda like the original Everquest, then.

Spells and archery actually have to hit their target to a certain degree, but melee combat can get weird in the early levels when you are missing a lot.

I insist once again, get both games. They are equally worth playing. The one more than the other maybe depending on your preferences.

Obviousley by a long shot, Skyrim wins in gameplay and graphics. But I prefer Oblivion for content, especially Shivering Isles, Overall I prefer Oblivion.

I love Oblivion more then Skyrim and Morrowind. Oblivion got more humor in quests, Oblivion Shiverling Isles - Shivering Isles quest line probably best thing ever done in TES history.

Oblivion impressed me more then any book or movie ever will tho.

And Oblivion got greatest mods - FCOM for example

Oblivion with mods still have better graphics then Fallout and Skyrim and most 2010-2011 games. Especially Oblivion Sky and Oblivion Trees

Both Morrowind and Oblivion are great games in their own right. I practically live in Oblivion and if you have a decent PC and properly mod the game then I would have no fear of saying that graphically and gameplay-wise it is a match for Skyrim - (but then I am biased).
The fact of the matter is though that this thread, much like every other Skyrim vs Oblivion vs Morrowind thread, is comparing apples with pears; all are Sandbox games, all use the same world, and lore - but it's implemented in a different way. To that end you will either be able to suspend disbelief and immerse yourself in them and realise that you shouldn't come at it from a comparative viewpoint, or you'll be unable to get over that and not gel with it.
There is a point at which comparisons become meaningless because it's ultimately down to what YOU the participant experience, and that's not something that you can quantify.
So should you play Oblivion after Skyrim? Of course you should. Will you enjoy it? That's entirely up to you.

I like Morrowind the best and Skyrim second, Oblivion wasn't that excitable to me.

Regardless, I would suggest you to have a look at their gameplay on You Tube, as much as graphic quality is not an issue, Morrowind has already gone old comparing with what you have experienced from Skyrim, while Oblivion is more updated, the colour has always been an issues for me, everything in the game has a high Hue in them, making them very cartoon like.

Shivering Isle was poor to me also, the theme and story background were quite weak in my view.

Anyway I hope you enjoy whatever decision you make.

I've put in around 350 hours with Skyrim and I don't know if I can put anymore hours into the game. Oblivion is easily worth it and it's cheap too, it is inferior in some aspects to Skyrim but in others it's a lot better.
