Should i get F1 or F2

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:59 am

Cool i think im gonna try the F1 demo?? Is that a good idea.

I dunno, I think it uses GURPS instead of SPECIAL. I could be wrong, I never played the demo.

GURPS was what they were going to use before they came up with SPECIAL, it may be a beta and not a demo.

GURPS, is the Generic, Universal, Role Playing System. Its a pen and paper based role playing game system that fallout was originally intended to use, however the reasons why it changed over to special remain disputed (SJ Games, owner of GURPS, say interplay dropped it without talking to them, Interplay say SJ games got squeamish over various things in the game).

For the most part, the game would play more or less the same. Click to shoot, move, reload, etc; but the back end on how the game works out if you hit/miss or pass/fail skill check was different, as is leveling and progression.

I've not played the demo, so I'm not sure which it uses.

GURPS is an old Pen 'n' Paper RPG system that uses different attributes, skills, etc. It's what they were going to use except the creator of GURPS turned them down for "controversial" material like the intro scene where a dude in power armor executes a Canadian Rebel.

Or so says Interplay at least. SJ games have a very different version of events in their old email archives.

It may have been loading, a lot of games change your graphical settings on startup, but this one had to set it backwords, as it is a game from the 90s.

Right click the game executable, select properties, select compatibility and from the drop down menu and select Windows 95. After that click okay and try launching the game again. I just tested it out and the demo should work fine after you do this. The colors will look messed up in the menus, but the rest of the demo should look normal.

It will remain in Windows 95 mode until you change it, but it will only effect the Fallout demo so no other program will be set to Windows 95 mode.

You would have to be insane to not want to play Fallout 1 and 2. They are my favorite RPGs hands down.
