Should I give fallout 3 a chance?

Post » Thu Jul 22, 2010 1:15 pm

I beat fallout 3 like twice? or so. And then I got bored.. Sooo after 5 months of not playing it. I was watching videos about it and feel extremely like playing a bad karma on fallout 3? Should I? What more is there to discover? How Many times did you guys beat it?

I don't see why not. There's plenty to discover; I can't tell you how much because the only info you gave was that 'you beat it' -- but I assure you, there will be things you haven't seen or done, especially seeing as you're doing an Evil karma character this time.

I'm not sure how many times I've 'beat' Fallout 3, but to give you an idea of how much I've played: I bought the game on 31st October 2008 -- UK release date -- and I still play to this day.

I'm on my second time through right now and I've come to realise that "beating it" is not the game. Yes, it brings it to an end, BUT how soon do you want it to end. There are so many places and quests to discover, there are so many ways to play it -- help good people or kill them or just ignore them; side with Alistair Tenpenny or Roy Phillips, blow up Megaton or not -- and a huge variety of skills to build or not, perks to choose from, and so on and so on. I don't want it to end. I want to see and experience everything in every way I can. I would never have believed I would say it, but this game is better than Bioshock. Don't worry about beating it -- you can always do that -- get out into that wasteland and explore it!

Assuming by "beating it" you mean the main quest, I can tell you the main quest is only a tiny part of Fallout 3. The best parts of the game have nothing to do with the main quest:

the Tenpenny Tower quest
helping Reilly's Rangers
Point Lookout
The Pitt
watching a Mr. Handy as he recites a poem
retrieving Vengeance
stumbling into the Plunger Room of Death
finding all of the Gnome vs. Teddy wars
fighting through a horde of Level 30 enemies to get to the Burnmaster flamer
The Door
mezzfriending the entirety of Evergreen Mills
helping Bryan Wilks move to a new home

I've spent over 2000 hours in Fallout 3 and still haven't seen and done everything.

Hey what is The Door

Go to Satcom Array NN-03d and look for exterior doors. Open them all until you find the answer you seek ;)

The Plunger Room of Death was a total o_o moment for me. It also made me realize that it must be ridiculously awesome to work for Bethesda. There are some seriously creative(/messed up?) people working for this company.

I found I had forgoten stuff and re-discovered it with that deja-voo feeling. I also forget how to get to certain places/locations, one playthrough for the life of me I couldn't remember how to get to Arlington Cemetary, and took me a few games before I found how to get to takahoma park....

I say yeh give it a go :)

I probs will be back playing it at some point, but I only put a few hundred hrs into Vegas so far, I think it needs a few more playthroughs before I will get an overwhelming need to come back to the FO3 nest but I know the calling will happen :D

I thought I'd played it a lot, but 2000 hours? That's over 83 days!
And 100 times

I've spent over 2000 hours in Fallout 3 and still haven't seen and done everything.

Now that is some serious dedication

i love Fo3 + FNV, the way you can explore at your own will, i hardly follow the main story.
too busy doing side quests and looking around.

the tenpenny tower missions was so damn funny, i thought they were stuck up snobs so i let the ghouls in through the basemant. haha
