7. Flaming is not allowed.

Insulting individuals or groups of members and name calling are flames. Any remark that is made to insult another member or group of members will be considered a flame and thus you may receive a warning for it.
Calling people a troll or an apologist for instance can both be considered a flame as can calling someone stupid or ADD. Attacking Xbox players, PS3 players or PC players is not allowed and calling them "console kiddies" or in anyway indicating someone is in some way a lesser person because of their choice is considered a flame here.

Jesus, does it have to be a flamewar?

There are good reasons for Bethesda to opt for their own engine:

- They're developing for consoles, which can't handle half of those features. If this was a PC game ported to consoles, then perhaps. But this is just not the industry these days, so we need to move on over this.
- They're more familiar with their own tools.
- They won't need to invest millions of dollars on a license.
- Their engine can probably produce a good looking game that may not look cutting-edge or jaw dropping, but still very beautiful.

With that said, Cryengine 3 -does- look very impressive. And it can handle any sort of game on modern hardware. It is vastly superior technologically speaking. That FPS vs RPG argument is nonsense, I'm sorry. -However-, amazing graphics aren't the decisive factor for sucess on a project like this, as everyone is pointing out. Eyecandy alone doesn't make a game.

Bethesda is familiar with their tools. They have their own system for game creation which, for the company, works (I hope). They must not be interested in investing several millions of dollars in a new game engine (cost of engine + training costs + file conversion + who knows what else). Turning this idea into a flame war is the equivalent of hitting your head against a concrete wall (repeatedly), further crushing your puny brain and consequently turning a terrible thread into one home only to devolved morons.

Hrm. It seems I have contributed to the flame war. Darn.

Eh, if people read my posts may be they'd stop with the bashing and provide some nice intellectual discussion. But its whatever. This topic is more speculation as far as how I've been discussing it anyway, so it isn't like Beth's all of a sudden gonna port Skyrim into CE3.

TES VI...now using Cryengine 4! I called it first.
