Should I join the College of winterhold?

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 1:45 am

Well my first character is mainly focusing on Light armor, one handed, Smithing, blocking and restoration however...

I wan't to know if I should join the college of winterhold, basicly I ONLY want to level restoration on this character and not anything else as I am going to do the rest on a pure mage charecter. I just wanted to know if I can specialise in resortation only at the college or will I be prompted to use other magic types?

I don't want to ruin the fun of one of the major parts of the game on a charecter that is only a little bit involved with magic, I only want to do the college on this character if I can just use restoration without feeling like I am massing out on other magic.

The College of Winterhold is a lot like the Mage Guild in Oblivion. You really don't NEED magic at all to do the questline. And when it is required, it's very basic spells.

Quite frankly, the college questline svcks. If you have better things to do first, do them.

You dont really need to be proficient at any skills for any of the guilds anyway.

The college has a short questline compared to the Mages Guild in Oblivion. If you feel like joining up in order to have fun doing the quests, then go ahead and do it.

However, if you only want to join the college because you think there will be a benefit to using magic, I would say no, save it. Join the college when you are ready to do the guild quests. There aren't a whole lot of benefits to joining it, it's not like the Arcane University in OB where you could only do certain things by joining.

Yes, you'll be 4 dungeons away from a nice big flat to live in.
