Should I kill Parthurnaax?

Post » Thu Mar 28, 2013 3:58 am

I'm already done with the civil war, the main quest, and most of the storylines and pretty much never visit High Hrothgar. I'm getting kind of bored and would like to know if the Blades quests are worth it.

I've never really done them, but I don't believe it's that great a quest line. Or else I would have been persuaded to do it before. Just my opinion. Which is no. Not worth it.

Probably thinking, how would you know? Well, if I've played this long without doing them, I'm going to assume it isn't worth it.

Nah, they're a shell of what they used to be. I would spare Parthy.

That's what I'm thinking. I would feel guilty.

Exactly. Here's a quote from Paarthurnax. "What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" ―Paarthurnax

Well its kind of cool to go with a group of blades that you chose from whichever followers you like and fight Dragons with them. Besides, if you kill Paarthunax you can take his bones and make a suit of armour out of him like I did. IT makes me feel like he's always with me, watching over me.

I don't know, I always keep him alive, so he can stay at the Throat of the World and actually, you know, watch over me.

When you defeat Alduin, you won't be killing him. There will be a time when Alduin returns once again, and it's good to have Paarthunax around to guide the next Alduin-slayer (which will be tricky I imagine, since our Dovahkiin is the last of his kind).

This. If he's alive, he teaches other dragons to overcome their evil ways. I'd prefer dragon companions over the Blades.

Pfft, sitting on a rock is no help. He now acts as a piece of metal that shields my heart. He is a pretty great friend and I know he'd be happy to do so.

Possibly. But this gets talked about in the General Discussion quite often, so I don't know how much it is spoiling anymore. Sort of like a Civil War discussion. People just hand out every little detail about it, but they are never in the Spoiler section. But who knows, I'm probably wrong on this.

Sitting on a rock, making my Thu'um more powerful. Yeah, not so useless anymore. As for him being happy, I don't know about that. Would you be cool if your friend killed you because you made good armor? I could understand if Paarthurnax died, and you made armor out of him. But just killing him for it? I don't think he'd be all too happy.

KILL PARTHURNAX!!!!!! That sonofab**ch killed lots of people in cold blood and lots of atrocities! Plus with the Blades you get cool Blades armor and an awesome base in the Reach (which is my favorite hold). Also you get to go on dragon hunting missions.

For a Thalmor toady, you are unusually fond of the Blades.

The Enchants I put on him are far more valuable than the Thu'um silly. And Parthi was a wise bro, he'd understand that the Dragonborn needs the best armour to finish her task.

All caps doesn't help your case. Also, read his quote that I posted above.

You could always just take the armor your first time up there. As for the base, it's not that great IMO. It's decent. And dragon hunting missions? I don't need those, considering dragon's will pretty much hunt me.

On every playthrough, I spared paarthurnax. If delphine wants him dead, she is welcome to do it herself, and, as a bonus, she can rebuild her petty order with the thalmor around all alone (esbern don't count lol).

Placing your trust in silly enchants instead of the Thu'um? Paarthurnax would be disappointed. Or would that be Yoda? It matters not. Also, if the Dragonborn can defeat Alduin without using Paarthurnax as armor, why would he ever need it. Besides, you can use any old dragon to make that armor, place the same enchants on it, and it'll work just fine. Then, you could have your enchanted dragon armor, and have the Thu'um power up. Seems like all win to me.

This should be indeed in the spoilers section, because Paarthurnax is one of that "surprises" of the game.
Old Parthie's bones are too good for a simple armor. I can make armor of the many dragons that attack me every now and then in Skyrim or in Solstheim.
I even have a nice collection of anything craftable with them because each town I visit has dragon attacks.
When I had to decide, my choice was clear. Paarthurnax's task in High Hrothgar was more important than anything his old body could give me in armor terms.
I prefer going there and have a talk with the old horny ;)
