Should New vegas be a Continuation of Fallout 3?

No they haven't... have you even played the older Fallouts?

I wish people would just play the originals, or just accept their legitimacy.

Well, the Brotherhood has. They've been in every game so far.

Not the Enclave though.

Durrr, I can barely understand what The Rook is talking about, there are no capital letters, no punctuation or commas, sometimes no arguments that makes sense :/ It's hard reading indeed.

To answer the posted question: NO.
The next game should be entitled Fallout 4 (and we can forget about NV)

I loved Fallout 3.
Bethesda should make the next Fallout game.
Fallout 3 was bigger, and had way more to do.
Lots more exploring and dungeon crawling.

FONV screwed over VATS & nerfed E-weapons, and the whole DT system is bunk (why can I empty the clip of my 9mm into someones face -with no helmet- and they are still standing there?)
BTW New Vegas (the city) was VERY disappointing. DC was much better.

Things I like about FONV - Revolvers and reloading bench. That's about it.

But thank you in advance Bethesda for focusing your efforts on Skyrim...

Sorry, I just can't agree. The only thing Fallout 3 did better than any other Fallout game, was the pointless exploring part. That has never been a part of a Fallout game, before, and to speak straight, adding it was a good thing but removing/changing everything else at its expense was the worst idea I've seen in the history of gaming (and now seeing it happening to other franchises like X-Com, Jagged Alliance and so forth, just makes me sick).

I don't think FNV screwed VATS in any way (as if screwing would even be possible), and DT was indeed a bit flawed but nowhere near as [censored] as the global DR Fallout 3 had. (I'm part of the group that accepts that emptying a clip to someones face, isn't gamebraking, but gameplayenhancing feature as it promotes the character and his skills. It would've been better if this issue was handled through accuracy instead of damage, much better! But that didn't happen, unfortunately.)

BAD NEWS FOR THOSE WHO SAY ENCLAVE CANT STILL BE SOMEWHERE ELSE IN FORCE After a few hours of research into fallout lore including the fallout bible and fallout timeline i obtained proof that Enclave without question went to other parts of the world in 2077. This sentence from the fallout bible proves it "U.S. Govt. officials left posts and went A NUMBER of secret locations around THE WORLD. AMONG THEM was the Poseidon oil rig. Also in the time line it states that in 2077 ENCLAVE RETREATS TO REMOTE SECTIONS OF THE WORLD. Along with Enclave the fallout bible goes on to say that MANY powerful corps. that helped Enclave before the war were protected too. So there goes all the b.s. about a hand full of people and they were all on the oil rig ok good night to that b.s. Now we have Enclave all over the world and just like I said before I found proof that they went to "remote locations around the world" without CNN or global hawk drones we don t know what they have grown into in 210yrs

So if you dont think that fiction writer can t take those few sentences and run with them u really don t know what the words fictional writer mean. As promised I returned with an opening for a big Enclave that would be believable and fall in to the Fallout story line like it or not there she blows. Now some contest that Enclave would never let people in but according to the Fallout bible they used some sort of mutated human as a super soilder even made a big suit of pa for him. They used people and super mutants as slaves so dont tell me that they wont use them as soilders. OK you are in some small tribe in the congo you r starving u always have been and u have no future. One day some men in nice shinny pa and some glowing weapons show up and say you want food?? shelter?? we are going to make the world a better place. You would do it Enclave could make them their own town. Enclave doesnt have to kiss them or have six with them or shower with but just provide for them and train them.

fo bible and timeline were made long before Bethesda and fo3 so no one messed with the fallout story. For those that don t see how fev got to vault 87 in dc the fo bible clearly states that fev was a u.s. government deal and its not clear if Enclave was involved in it. So since most of the vaults were govnt. play toys why not 1 to test fev. Why only do it in one place that may have have a bullseye on it? In a vault the research could go on after the war it only makes sense. Its shocking that it didn t go on in more vaults it might have. fo lore thinks there may have been 120 vaults built but its unclear because records were lost during the war. Know why???? because fictional writers leave openings so they can make what ever they want happen later just like i said before and still follow the story

huh one person may have insulted me in the eyes of some but really the person only pointed out my writing style was hard to follow. PS3 though a good machine isn t really made for long discussions so to save time i dont use caps and have a giant run on sentence. The person did put "Drrrr" in it but im a big boy in a way and i can take it. Now i have not insulted a soul just ended a 2 day discussion in which i was heavily outnumbered with good hard facts that prove my theries were right from the jump. Im not sure what raving is but i can asure u if its bad all i have done is have a sain 2 day discussion with several people and imo won. Now im sure they see it different but we ll have to wait and see.

I know what you posted, the Fallout bible points out that the government scattered around the world, nobody is arguing that, but the important guys, AKA Enclave were on the rig, other went there after the [censored] hit the fan.

the bible only offers clarity on things not already known by playing the game, if you play the game, talk to the actual people on the Rig, the President himself, you may learn things, wouldnt ya know.

Whatever, people bring that little factoid up all of the time but it ain't going to happen. Ever. There are even parts of Fallout and Fallout 2 which Obsidein forgot in New Vegas, like that the Enclave patrolmen were arseholes and nothing like the Remnants that we see in New Vegas. Quote that one line all you like but nobody is ever going to do anything with it, it was said pressumabley because Avellone didn't have the authority, on an in between games project, to make any massive canonical changes. He wouldn't have been allowed to say that the Enclave was dead, it also said that nobody knew what happened to Navarro when we now know that it was captured with 5 years of the Oil Rig.

So yeah, keep clinging onto that line all you want, nobody will ever make use of it and it kind of doesn't even make sense canonically. Why spread them all over the world when they either want to re-colonise America or space, why make absurd travel distances between them and communications based only on things that they had working before a nuclear apocalypse. Oh yeah, and why keep them there when the Enclave literally has a plan to depopulate the entire Earth, which all depends on a resource from ONE location on the West Coast meaning that every Enclave in unreachable locations would die when they went outside (because it was a virus not a posion) because the vaccine can only be produced from one place.

Fallout 3 is a spin off.

Interview: Bethesda Talks 'Fallout: New Vegas,' Trademarks
by Nick Breckon Apr 20, 2009 1:06pm CST
Earlier today, Fallout 3 developer Bethesda Softworks announced "Fallout: New Vegas," a new title in the Fallout series of post-nuclear RPGs

Not a true sequel to Fallout 3, New Vegas is instead a spin-off RPG in the same style under development at Obsidian Entertainment.

Following the press event in London, I caught up with Bethesda marketing VP Pete Hines to talk a bit about the project and other Fallout-related items.

Shack: When did Bethesda start thinking about a Fallout spin-off?

Pete Hines: It's something that we've discussed at night for a while,

There is no sequel to Fallout 2. By the litteral definition of sequal, Fallout 3 is not a sequel to Fallout 2 and New Vegas is not a sequal to Fallout 2 or 3.

That's just your opinion, it depends on what you are sequelling, if you choose only a specific thing and or not the overall then you can easily make that misconception, as you have.

New Vegas is a spin-off as the Marketing Director has said.

The Way It Should Be:

If you are going to make a sequel then it has to be related in a noticable way that doesn't rehash the plot's from three games.
But, lets say you make a game on a different coast; It should give writer's an opportunity to write new character's, new faction's, new stories!

How it really is:

Look at what I posted above, they chose a new coast- an area where they could have written new things, and people... but they didn't.
They did what alot of games do; they used the first step on every single game, but they also took the plot and not just characters, but they didn't just make something related, they lifted the entire thing and just placed it in another area.

When they could have done what Obsidian done (as in introduce new areas and factions)... But guess what? They chose to copy paste and rip off the story!

Let's view at the most notable things they lifted, shall we?

The things they ripped off:
Fallout 1 Major: Vault Dweller, Leave Vault looking for something very important!, Seek Water, Destroy mutants, and their VATS and save many!

Fallout 1 Minor: Joining the Brotherhood of Steel, Harold, Water plot, being kicked out of the vault when you return...

Fallout 2 Major: Leave home and seek a GECK, Return home to find it in a state of chaos, find out about Enclave, defeat the Enclave, kill their leader and destroy their base to save many.

Fallout 2 Minor: Enclave take something of value to you, Harold (Again...), Helping the Brotherhood against the Enclave

Fallout Tactics: Being a Brotherhood of Steel Member, The Warriors Armor (Which is the Enclave's armor on the east coast, pah.)

What Fallout 3 Has (that's shamelessly ripped off!):

Being a Vault Dweller, Leave home to find something very important! Find GECK and Destroy the Mutant's and their VATS!
Join the Brotherhood the Steel! Purify Water to save your people! Harold! Discovering the Enclave! Assisting the Brotherhood against the Enclave!
Defeating the Enclave! Destroying the Enclave's base! Killing the Enclave's Leader, and commit overkill! (Twice.), Harold! (Once again...), The Enclave's Power Armor!

Bonus Ripoff: Being kicked out of a Vault when you return.

This about sum's it up.

I'm really thankful that Bethesda made the game Fallout 3 ... and nobody else!
